Cannon Endorsed by Pennsylvania State Building & Construction Trades Council, Three Regional Trades Councils

JudgeFizzanoCannon-2Judge Christine Fizzano Cannon was endorsed by the Pennsylvania State Building & Construction Trades Council, Pittsburgh Regional Building Trades Council, the Central Pennsylvania Building & Construction Trades Council, and the Northeastern Pennsylvania Building & Construction Trades Council in her run for the Commonwealth Court.

“Throughout her years of service as a Common Pleas Judge, Fizzano Cannon has demonstrated her integrity and impartiality in the courtroom.  We believe her experience and judicial demeanor make her an excellent choice for Commonwealth Court,” President of the Pennsylvania State Building and Construction Trades Council Frank Sirianni said in a release announcing the endorsement.

The Council represents 16 regional councils, and over 98 local unions, with over 130,000 construction workers.

“Given my family’s longtime involvement in the construction industry, I understand the issues and challenges facing the people who work in the building trades.  I greatly appreciate the endorsement and support of the men and women working in the industry and the members of the statewide and regional trade councils,” Cannon said of the endorsements.

“Fizzano Cannon earned the Pennsylvania’s Bar Association top rating of ‘Highly Recommended’ and after meeting with her and reviewing her qualifications, we agree that she will make a great Commonwealth Court Judge,” President of the Central Pennsylvania Building & Construction Trades Council Joseph Gusler said in release about the endorsement.

The Pennsylvania State Building & Construction Trades Council also endorsed Judge Ellen Ceisler for the Commonwealth Court.

Cannon is running on the Republican ticket for one of two open seats on the Commonwealth Court.

  1. Smart move by the unions going with Judge Fizzano Cannon. She is the only candidate for Commonwealth Court to receive the top rating of Highly Recommended from the Pennsylvania Bar Association. The PA Bar’s judicial evaluation committee says she possesses “the highest combination of legal ability, experience, integrity, and temperament and would be capable of outstanding performance” as a Commonwealth Court. The unions went with the most qualified, unbiased judge by endorsing Fizzano Cannon.

  2. Unions are nuts for endorsing any Republican for that Court. And Cannon is an ideological Republican who will support voter ID, right to work, and employers over workers in cases. A big mistake.

  3. Construction – Cannon/Ceisler – seems as if the C’s have it. You don’t post these stories very long but if memory serves me right, this union group has endorsed more GOP than Dems?

  4. Yo! What about the I.S.D.A.? We endorsed her too. Oh…all those unions…the godfather owns them so it’s like, one big Italian.club. My bad.
