Sen. Bob Casey Jr. and Dave McCormick have agreed to debate on October 3 in Harrisburg.
The candidates will square off at the studios of WHTM-TV (abc27) with political editor Dennis Owens serving as the moderator.
A release from the Casey campaign stated that the three-term Democratic incumbent has also agreed to debate his Republican challenger on October 9 and 15 in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, respectively.
The McCormick campaign said that the campaign has yet to agree to those additional debates, although she said the Republican did agree to a debate with Pittsburgh NBC station WPXI that Casey has not responded to.
In a statement, the Casey campaign said that the senator “is proud to continue Pennsylvania’s long history of political debates and looks forward to making his case for re-election and engaging his opponent on the issues that matter to people of the Commonwealth.”
The McCormick campaign released a statement that read, “Since day one of our campaign, I’ve promised Pennsylvanians total transparency on where I stand on the most important issues facing our commonwealth: the price of food, fuel, and housing is hurting families, Joe Biden and Bob Casey’s open borders have enabled 4,000 Pennsylvanians to die of fentanyl overdose, and their war on energy is crushing PA jobs.
“That’s a stark contrast with Bob Casey, who is too weak to stand up to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s liberal agenda. I look forward to bringing that contrast to the debate stage for Pennsylvanians across the commonwealth to see.”
note: updated with information from McCormick campaign that it has not agreed to additional debates.
