ChamberPAC endorses Tom Corbett for governor

HARRISBURG, PA, Oct. 12, 2010 – ChamberPAC, the political arm of the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, today announced its endorsement of Attorney General Tom Corbett for governor.

“The Commonwealth is clearly at a crossroads,” Kirk Liddell, president and CEO of Lancaster, PA-based Irex Corporation and chairman of the ChamberPAC Board of Directors, said. “The decision that voters must make in the November election is who is best to return Pennsylvania to the path of fiscal stability and economic prosperity. The Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry is confident that Tom Corbett is the right person for the job.”

Liddell said ChamberPAC’s decision to endorse Corbett for governor, along with its traditional endorsements in state House and Senate races, is recognition of the need to have leaders in office who will advance pro-growth, pro-jobs policies, and not a continuation of the status quo.

Liddell said the last eight years of the Rendell administration have, for the most part, brought unbalanced, and at times unnecessary, environmental regulation; little action on commonsense legal reform; the constant targeting of employers for new revenue to support uncontrolled state spending; and an overall tax, spend and mandate approach to governing at the expense of free enterprise. The end result is an underachieving Commonwealth that consistently lags the nation in economic growth and competitiveness.

“Pennsylvania needs to head in a new direction,” Liddell said. “At the end of the day, Tom Corbett’s ideas are in the best interest of Pennsylvania’s taxpayers, job creators and economy in general. For these reasons, ChamberPAC proudly endorses his candidacy for governor.”
