Citizens Alliance launched an initiative dubbed “Pennsylvania Chase” on Wednesday to increase Republicans’ 2024 mail-in voting results in Pennsylvania.
CEO Cliff Maloney will be hiring door knockers to pound on 500,000 likely-Republican doors to boost results. The initiative is a reaction to the failed efforts of the Establishment Republicans to match Democrat tactics in Pennsylvania regarding mail-in ballot results.
“Enough with the excuses, it’s time for action,” Maloney said in a press release. “We’re facing a major challenge in my home state of Pennsylvania and we can’t afford to sit back any longer. Today, we’re launching The Pennsylvania Chase, a grassroots effort with a simple mission: knock on 500,000 targeted doors to chase Republican ballots.
“No fancy presentations or talking points. Just putting boots on the ground, because it’s time to level up and beat the Democrats at their own game. The path to taking our country back must include turning Pennsylvania red.”
His rationale is simple … it’s a numbers game.
In the closely-watched 2023 Pennsylvania Supreme Court race, Democrat Dan McCaffery defeated Republican Carolyn Carluccio by seven points or 217,000 votes. McCaffery received 78 percent of the 812,000-plus mail ballots.
The previous year, Democrat John Fetterman defeated GOP candidate Mehmet Oz by five points and 264,000 votes for the open U.S. Senate seat, while also pulling in 78% of 1.225 million votes through the mail.
And Democrat Josh Shapiro won the governor’s mansion in 2022 over Republican Doug Mastriano, in part with the help of 1.02 million mail votes compared to just over 187,000 for his opponent.
“As a former math teacher turned grassroots activist, I see a glaring numbers problem,” Maloney said. “Republicans only received 20 percent of mail-in ballots in 2022, down from 23% of mail-in ballots in 2020. A massive disadvantage. But here’s the silver lining – even with those crazy margins, we almost pulled off a win.
“To win in 2024, the math shows us that we need Republicans to win 33% of mail-in ballots. Chasing ballots legally means knocking on 500,000 doors across PA. It’s a massive task, but it’s one that must be done.”
