Commonwealth Court Candidate Wojcik Writes Letter Seeking Dem Endorsement

michael-wojcikIn effort to gain an endorsement from the Pennsylvania Democratic State Committee, Commonwealth Court candidate Michael Wojcik has written a letter to the group explaining why he is the best candidate for the job.

Wojcik deliberately wrote and mailed the letter on January 22, 2015, citing the particular date’s importance as the 42nd anniversary of the United States Supreme Court Decision on Roe v. Wade.

Wojcik says the Roe v. Wade court decision reminds Americans “as to why it is important to nominate qualified judges with the best opportunity of winning in November,” and notes that “without it, women would be unable to make their own decisions about family planning.”

In addition, Wojcik also attached a biography of himself, in which he asserts that he “successfully defended laws that increased funding for public transportation, protected the voting rights of minorities and college students, and worked closely and successfully with labor leaders in the collective bargaining process.”

Wojcik declared his candidacy for Commonwealth Court Judge back in December.

  1. “What a tragedy to Judicial system if Mr. Wojcik were to win this very important position on the Commonwealth Court. This Court can be an integral part of helping stop corruption in government.

  2. So you think Eagan’s more qualified than Wojick because Eagan lives in Scranton and Wojick lives in Pittsburgh? This makes no sense at all. Look at their backgrounds — Eagan is the son and grandson of lawyers and “was born into the law” (Eagan’s own words). Wojick is the son of a coal miner and worked his way out of the coal fields. Eagan has limited experience in labor law. Wojick was Allegheny County Solicitor andran the Allegheny County Law Department and has broad experience. He is very similar to Judge Pelligrini, who was Pittsburgh Solicitor. To top it off, Wojick was born in Somerset County. I think Wojick is the candidate who can win in November because of where he was born, what he has done and who he is.

  3. Both Michael Wojcik and Todd Eagan are well qualified and have pro labor credibility, but Eagan gets the nod because he is not from the traditional power bases of Philly and Pittsburgh. The Northeast of PA deserves a judge from their region to serve on the a major court of the state. It should be noted, however, that Eagan has represented clients in all regions of PA. The Commonwealth Court is a key player in upholding citizens rights in a time of conflict between the GOP legislature and a Democratic governor. Eagan is an attractive candidate for a position on the Court.
