Commonwealth Court Judge Anne Covey unveiled her first TV ad yesterday.
A bit more colorful than spots released by her fellow candidates, Covey’s commercial makes the case that she has the strength to make a good PA Supreme Court Justice.
“What does it take for the Supreme Court?,” the narrator asks. “Backbone.”
The ad emphasizes Covey’s experience on the Commonwealth Court alongside laudatory quotes.
“I stick to the law, I stick to the Constitution and I follow the truth wherever it takes me,” Covey states.
“She’s smart, strong and right,” the narrator asserts.
Covey is being supported by the State Republican Party for one of the three open seats on the PA Supreme Court this year.

According to Cory Stevens, the Supreme Court is 65% criminal. She has none! Also, what about her integrity issues and not being truthful to the PBA? What about the GOP keeping her separated from George and Olson? She has issues and no way will she get past the Primary next week. All she talks about is Penn State,Penn State, yet the money has yet to be released. Do your homework people!
Criminal law is not a big part of the Supreme Court docket. Most criminal cases on appeal don’t get past the Superior Court. The Supremes deal with a wide range of complicated issues. You need more than a former DA or prosecutor on the high court.
Covey has no criminal law experience. She is NOT right for the Supreme Court. Surprised she didn’t bring up Penn State.
