The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is putting Conor Lamb, who won the special election in the 18th Congressional district, onto its Frontline incumbent protection program.
“Congressman-elect Conor Lamb embodies toughness, hard work and service, and represents the very best of his community and our country. Conor’s record of service combined with a deep connection to labor and the grassroots community puts him in a very strong position to be re-elected in November,” DCCC Chairman Ben Ray Luján said.
The DCCC’s Frontline program helps candidates with fundraising and strategizing for the general election.
The DCCC mostly stayed away from the special election Lamb won this month, only spending $300,000 on the race, while the NRCC spent over 10 times that amount according to the Post-Gazette.
After the court ordered redraw of the state’s Congressional map the 18th district Lamb won will not exist for the May primary and November general election. Lamb will likely run in the 17th Congressional district, which presents a much friendlier district than the 18th. President Trump won the 18th by 20 points in 2016, but in the new 17th district Trump won by only three points.

Nonetheless, Lamb will have a much easier time running as he is popular, more experienced as a candidate and has the upper hand.
And somewhere, Keith Rothfus just dirtied his britches.
The 17th should be treated as an open seat with no incumbent.
