DCCC Robocalls Target Five PA Congressmen For “Playing Games With the Debt Ceiling”

With little more than a week before the federal government risks devolving into default, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has launched a series of robocalls designed “to hold Republicans accountable for playing games with the debt ceiling,” according to a media announcement distributed over the weekend.

The DCCC’s “We Don’t Quit” campaign is targeting sixty districts across the country, including five in Pennsylvania: PA-6 (Jim Gerlach), PA-7 (Pat Meehan), PA-8 (Mike Fitzpatrick), PA-11 (Lou Barletta), and PA-15 (Charlie Dent).  Each of the targeted Keystone State districts went for John Kerry in 2004 and President Obama in 2008.

The automated call begins by criticizing Congressman Tom Latham (R-Iowa) and House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), alleging they “would rather our economy default just to protect tax breaks for Big Oil companies and billionaire jet-owners.”  Meanwhile, middle-class Americans would shoulder interest rate hikes, skyrocketing gas and food prices, plummeting 401(k) accounts and diminished Social Security and Medicare benefits, the DCCC asserts.

  1. This “childish refusal to work together with compromise/harmony is destroying the wonderful things the USA has so proudly accomplished in its history”. This “debt” wasn’t created overnight, nor created by one “party” and its going to take the good of all to see this worked out…on all sides

  3. I encourage you to put aside partisan politics and vote for the Reid Budget Plan which is less likely to cause any downgrading of America’s bond rating. Please do not let our country play with the international monetary market by defaulting. I urgently request that you do this in advance of the looming deadline.

  4. Enough is enough !!! The republican congress needs to pass the Debt Ceiling bill. A great deal has been put forth by Harry Reid and does not require tax increases to your wealthy constituents. Take this offer now !!!!!!!!!!!!

    Most Sincerely,

    Kenneth J. Collins
