DCCC Targets Fitzpatrick, Perry Among 33 Districts In Play

Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick and Scott Perry

Step to the front of the line Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-01) and Rep. Scott Perry  (R-10).

In a Monday announcement, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) announced its Democrats’ Districts In Play for the 2024 election cycle and the two Pennsylvania Republicans made their list.

DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene announced 33 competitive Republican-held or open districts across the country that the organization is targeting in its quest to reclaim the U.S. House majority.

“The vulnerable Republicans represented on this list have worked hand in hand with Speaker McCarthy to enable the most dangerous wings of their party to threaten our jobs, roll back women’s freedoms, endanger Americans’ economic security, and prioritize politics over people,” said DelBene. “The DCCC is prepared to recruit exciting and battle-ready candidates in these key districts and ensure voters see the clear contrast between Democrats’ track record of delivering for the middle class, and Republicans’ radical agenda that puts Americans’ pocketbooks, communities, and livelihoods at risk.”

National Republican Congressional Committee communications director Jack Pandol told NBC News, “Extreme House Democrats lost the majority because they hammered families with crime, chaos and skyrocketing costs. Why would voters change their minds after Democrats spent their time in the minority coddling violent criminals and opposing relief?”

Fitzpatrick, who represents Bucks and Montgomery County, is in his fourth term in Washington. Since edging Democratic challenger Scott Wallace by less than three percentage points in 2018, he has won reelection by 10 or more points in the last two elections in 2020 and 2022.

Perry, who represents Cumberland, Dauphin and York counties, is in his sixth term and chairs the House Freedom Caucus. Since winning his first two reelection campaigns handily, Perry has won the last three by single digits, increasing his advantage each time from 2.6 to 6.6 to 8 percentage points.

According to its announcement, this cycle will mark the first time ever that the DCCC has launched nominee fund pages, which allows grassroots donors to donate now to contribute to the eventual Democratic nominee in these Districts In Play.

  1. Surprised you guys never report on Dan Meuser PA 9 who consistently is named to Legistorms Worst Bosses in Congress list. His staff turnover is through the roof. He made the top 5 worst in all of Congress for 2022.

  2. Let’s hope Republicans target the three left wing radicals- Dean, Scanlon and Photo OP Houlihan

  3. Throwing money against moderate Fitzpatrick is a waste of resources. Perry is in a fairly safe district that ever so slowly is moving Dem. The Dems are more on defense in PA against 3 vulnerable seats (Cartwright, Wilde and DeLuzio)

  4. Two different types of Republicans, both successful in their districts over the years, both genuinely good people who work hard and serve their districts well. Winning elections is more than registration numbers. Both will be re-elected in 2024.
