Congressman Charlie Dent (R-Lehigh) joined the list of Republicans who will be voting no on the American Health Care Act.
“I believe this bill, in its current form, will lead to the loss of coverage and make insurance unaffordable for too many Americans, particularly for low-to-moderate income and older individuals,” Dent said, according to the Allentown Morning Call.
Dent and other members of the ‘Tuesday Group’ met with President Trump late Tuesday to express their concerns with the AHCA. The ‘Tuesday Group’ is a group of moderate Republicans that is co-chaired by Dent.
Dent has expressed concerns about the bill since it was introduced, and the meeting did not help settle those concerns.
“I had reservations going in, and I still have reservations now,” Dent told the Morning Call.
Dent’s announcement came right after the meeting with Trump, showing last minute efforts to sway Dent were not successful.
This is not the first time Dent has opposed Trump. During the campaign, Dent made headlines when he said he would not be voting for either Trump or Clinton. More recently, Dent came out against Trump’s immigration orders, calling the first order “ridiculous.”
Dent joins Congressmen Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (R-Centre) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Bucks) in opposition to the bill, along with the entire Pennsylvania Democratic delegation. Congressmen Tim Murphy (R-Allegheny), Pat Meehan (R-Delaware), Ryan Costello (R-Chester), and Lloyd Smucker (R-Lancaster) have all voted for the AHCA in committee, and Murphy published an op-ed in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette earlier this week supporting the bill. Congressman Lou Barletta (R-Luzerne) came out against the AHCA, but after meeting with Trump and Speaker of the House Paul Ryan he agreed to support the bill with certain amendments to the bill.

Hi! Quick question that’s entirely off topic. Do you know how to make
your site mobile friendly? My blog looks weird when viewing from my iphone4.
I’m trying to find a template or plugin that might
be able to fix this issue. If you have any recommendations, please share.
Appreciate it!

Another eunuch….
Thank you for standing up for us.
Bravo, once again, to my own Charlie Dent. I say this as a Dem, and I do repeatedly on occasion.
I am registered as Independent. TRUMPCARE IS A JOKE. Dump has stated he wants OBAMACARE to fail. Gee, wasn’t he the guy who wanted to be a president for all? He must think the 20 million folks relying on OBAMACARE are illegal.
As someone from Centre who has been calling Glenn Thompson, it is good to see balls on the Republican side. I am a moderate voter, I do believe people should put in their fair share. However killing our seniors by making them pay half their income in premiums is not the way. I was a caregiver for a USMC Vietnam vet for most my life until recently. It was the VA that pushed me to enroll in Medicaid so I could take care of him. He WAS my job 24/7 because he broke his neck in denang. Most Medicaid able bodied workers in PA are either in drug recovery, or have stories like mine.
So sad that when someone follows some principles – even if people disagree with them – the answer is to denigrate him in every way possible. Let’s be honest: the AHCA isn’t good. Instead of taking a few months to find a smart and workable solution, Trump is trying to ram through a product that won’t improve things. Kinda how we ended up with Obamacare in first place: pass it to see what’s in it. Maybe Dent is being smarter than the rest?!
If Dent votes no, he is toast.
HE DIDNT VOTE FOR TRUMP HES AGAINST HIS IMMIGRATION PLAN HES AGAINST REPEALING OBAMA CARE SOUNDS LIKE A DEMOCRAT TO ME
Vote no.
Are you still voting no? Let me know so I know how much you truely care for your constituents Believe me. We care how you vote !

Career politician Charlie Dent’s act is getting old. What does the guy stand for? Basically he stands for getting reelected.
Dent will be getting a serious primary this cycle from a very credible person. He cannot win a contested primary from a credible candidate in today’s environment.
Charlie knows it’s coming. The question is, will he pull a Specter?
You have to pass the bill to see what’s in it. Don’t be foolish.
Charlie Dent sunk this as soon as he went on TV this morning. I wonder what kind of name Trump and Spicer will come up with for him. Now lets see if some of the other PA GOP can have the same courage. and then when push comes to shove, whether any of the PA Dems can vote for anything but no
Good man!! Much better than our embarrassment here in the 11th! Whether you’re looking to shore up the safety net or trying to get more people to eventually graduate from it and want more market forces to improve health care, TrunpCare is a putrid deal and folks across the spectrum should fight it and stop the TrunpCare death spiral…
That’s right. It’s time these moderate Northeast Republicans TAKE BACK THE PARTY from the lunatic far-right tea party fringe. They are racist radicals. Dent showed courage for his district.
I can’t say that I’ve been a fan of Dent, but I appreciate him voting with conscience and looking out for “low-to-moderate income and older individuals” who would suffer the most from this terrible bill.
