DeWeese Sentenced to 30 to 60 Months

DeWeese got 30 to 60 months in state prison for his role in the Bonusgate scandal. He resigned from the state House at noon today. He gave his farewell speech last week.

He was also fined $25,000 and $117,000 in restitution for corruption.

There were several letters filed on behalf of DeWeese today including from retiring state Sen. Jeff Piccola.

DeWeese was found guilty on five counts of theft/criminal conspiracy in February. He has filed an appeal that is scheduled for January.

  1. The GOP convictions were low hanging fruit. Remember, they did not go down for electioneering on state time. The whole thing is a charade. DeWeese going to jail is a joke. What does that prove along with the rest of them sitting there?

  2. “a FULL and inclusive investigation of the Republican House…”

REALLY? A Republican Speaker as well as another member of GOP leadership are in jail, the former Speaker’s Chief of Staff the same, several staff members also sentenced. Exactly what do you think was missed?

I will agree on the GOP Senate stuff though. How Mike Long can retire from the Senate and every news outlet cites him as the political operative most responsible for the Senate GOP majority and then he isn’t even looked into is beyond me.

  3. I am still waiting for a FULL and inclusive investigation of the Republican House and Senate caucuses and the Democrat Senate caucus. I guess I am going to wait a long time
