The DLCC is putting its money where its mouth is.
The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) announced a $500,000 investment to help Democrats protect their majority in the Pennsylvania House.
The investment is part of a $2.2 million boost in top battleground states across the country as part of the DLCC’s ‘Summer of the States’ campaign. It is hoped that the funding will assist with staff hiring, digital investment, and field operations to name a few.
“Democratic control of the Pennsylvania House has been a firewall against MAGA extremism — and this critical line of defense is on the ballot this November,” said DLCC president Heather Williams. “Democrats must be prepared to compete with Trump’s allies in the states rallying around Project 2025, and at the DLCC, we’re working overtime to make sure all Democrats understand what is at stake. Pennsylvania Republicans are a single-seat away in the House from taking total full control of the legislature, where they are sure to enact Trump’s MAGA agenda. The DLCC’s investment will support Pennsylvania Democrats as they run strong campaigns to determine the direction of Pennsylvania’s future.”
The Pennsylvania House is currently split right down the middle, 100-100, following the resignations of Reps. Donna Bullock (D-Philadelphia) and Stephen Kinsey (D-Philadelphia). The GOP caucus is missing Rep. Joe Kerwin (R-Dauphin) who is overseas with the Pennsylvania National Guard. While the Philadelphia-area seats are expected to be won by Democrats in special elections in September, the DLCC is hopeful for the state’s lower chamber to remain in Blue hands.
The group has also identified 19 state legislators – 15 in the House and four in the Senate – in their Spotlight Series as targeted races will serve as a guidepost as the DLCC works to increase Democratic power and deliver the progress that Pennsylvanians deserve.
“As the arm of the Democratic Party with the sole mission of setting the national agenda in state legislatures, the DLCC’s work is paramount for defeating Trump and his allies at the ballot box. We cannot take our eyes off of the stakes in this election: democracy and fundamental freedoms are on the line this November,” added Williams.
