The Environmental Defense Action Fund, a 501(c)(4) lobbying arm of the EDF, is launching a multi-state ad campaign to support President’s Obama’s plan to tackle climate change.
They are not subtle.
“Costly and devastating storms are increasing. Don’t let Congress block reasonable limits on climate change pollution,” says a narrator as footage of storm surge pushing into a residential neighborhood plays in the background.
Along with Pennsylvania, the ads will be running in seven other states and Washington, D.C. on cable news networks and during Sunday morning talk shows.
“The President is taking ambitious action to give our children and grandchildren a better future. We intend to be just as ambitious in supporting his proposals against attacks in Washington, D.C.,” said Elizabeth Thompson, President of EDAF. “Make no mistake, there are well-funded interest groups that are going to try to block these common sense pollution limits. And apparently some Members of Congress think there should be no limits at all on this kind of pollution from its largest source.”
EDAF did not specify the size of the buy, but GOP firm Smart Media Group pegged the total at $30K on broadcast. A spokeswoman said the ads would air on cable news and on Sunday news programs in the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh markets.
Obama unveiled a new climate change effort Tuesday, with an emphasis on new regulatory efforts on coal-fired power plants.
Here are the other two ads:

Great appeal to the low information audience and those who think history began with the last storm and the last illness.
