Tom Corbett’s rough 2013 just got worse. U.S. Senator Pat Toomey told a group of conservative activists Saturday that he is considering a primary bid for Governor.
He spoke with activists at a private meeting of the Bucks County Kitchen Table Patriots. A copy of the footage was obtained by PoliticsPA.
“Some of you may know, I am seriously considering running for Governor of this Commonwealth,” Toomey said to loud applause. “I’m thinking of doing this because I believe that I can bring about the kind of reforms that can help get Pennsylvania growing again and restore the confidence of the people of Pennsylvania in the integrity of its government.”
Toomey, of Lehigh County, served in Congress for 3 terms then went on to lead the conservative Club for Growth for several years. A potent fundraiser and a favorite of Pa. conservatives, he could present a serious challenge to Corbett.
The Governor’s poll numbers, even among Republicans, have been below 50%. Montgomery County Commissioner Bruce Castor has also floated the possibility of a primary bid.
PoliticsPA is seeking comment from Corbett.

His signature tie has been a perfect shade of salmon since at least 2010. This video is clearly dated.
“Could have rin casey for guv story but liberal Gibson likes to cause chaos for republicans. Grow up dick licker.” ?? Really D. Miller? AS we say in PA Dutch Country, ” Du bischt grosse orschluck!!”
Maybe we can then get something accomplished. If Pat Toomey will swear and promise to defund R-Cap, privatize the liquor stores, encourage and support school choice and right to work to get rid of the union influence in Harrisburg and do something anything about the out of control Pensions then I can get behind a run. Corbett ain’t getting anything accomplished worth note. Just more crony capitalism with R-Cap and the unions. Floating long term debt to pay for short term unemployment shortfalls.
Good April Fool’s joke. Y ou even dug up that old tape–maybe from 2009 (?) where Toomey suggests his future may hold a gubernatorial run. Toomey discussed this in such a generic way devoid of the political context of 2009 that the April Fool’s joke comes out pitch perfect.
Maybe Toomey Is worried about his prospects on 2016. It is a presidential year with high Denocrat turnout. He only beat Sestak be two points in 2010 when Republicans dominated.

Wow Sy, way to ruin your credibility as a news source. You don’t see the Inquirer or the Patriot News running fake stories on April Fool’s.
Disappointing.
Pat, please stay in Washington. We need a FEW people in the Senate who understand finance and are willing to fight for our nation’s fiscal future.
I don’t think this is a joke.
This is not an April Fools post. Watch the video–Toomey is serious.
Corbett should be freaking out.
I’m not sure what I look forward to more: the PoliticsPA stories on 4/1 or the comments and Facebook posts from activists who think they are real.
April Fools! We can wish though.
Please resign from the senate, pat! And then engage our corrupt governor and your corrupt party in a prolonged battle!
Yum, cat fud.
