Executive Director of Delaware County Medical Society Releases Letter on Efforts to Arrange a Meeting with Cong. Sestak

Allentown – The Executive Director of the Delaware County Medical Society, David McKeighan, issued the following letter today concerning the Medical Society’s efforts to arrange a meeting with Congressman Sestak last summer to express their concerns about the health care bill.

To Whom It May Concern:

There may be some discussion over Pat Toomey’s recent ad about Congressman Joe Sestak’s refusal to meet with Delaware County doctors during the health care debate last summer.  Let me set the story straight.

In July of 2009, I contacted Congressman Sestak’s office by telephone and internet to schedule an appointment for several of our members to meet with him and share our concerns, with the pending health system reform bill.    We understand that the Congressman is very busy, but thought it would be beneficial for him to hear the concerns and needs of the local doctors.

For over two months, I continued to contact Congressman Sestak’s office to schedule a meeting between myself, Congressman Sestak, and members of the Delaware County Medical Society’s Political Advocacy Committee (including Dr. Maria DeMario).  After numerous calls and visits to his office, our local group of doctors was never given a time to meet with him before the health care bill was passed.
