Farnese Named Ranking Member of Economic Development Committee

pa-state-capitol-b175d9a07740ecf3State Sen. Larry Farnese has been appointed Democratic Chairman of the Senate Community, Economic & Recreational Development Committee, his office announced Monday.

Farnese, who has represented PA’s 1st district since 2009, recently served as Ranking Member of the Senate Communications & Technology Committee. He resigned that post last week and was replaced by the newly-elected Senator John Sabatina.

The former Ranking Member was Sen. Sean Wiley, who is currently heading up two other committees for the minority party. The Chairwoman of the CERD committee is Sen. Kim Ward.

“Whether internet gaming or policies that propose to help or hurt the fabric of Pennsylvania life, I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as the Democratic chairman of this important panel,” Farnese said. “Sen. Sean Wiley has done an excellent job raising points and counterpoints with legislation brought before this group, and I pledge to continue working hard to do the same.”

In addition to his new chairman position, Farnese will continue his work with the Senate Banking & Insurance; Consumer Protection & Professional Licensure; Judiciary; and Rules & Executive Nominations Committees.
