Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman was speeding and “at fault” for the car accident that he and his wife, Gisele, were involved in on Sunday morning in Maryland.

Fetterman was driving a Chevy Traverse on I-70 in northwest Maryland near Hancock, according to a Maryland State Police report. He was driving “at a high rate of speed, well over the posted speed limit” before rear-ending a Chevrolet Impala around 7:45 a.m. as he was approaching the exit for I-68.

The report stated that neither driver was tested for alcohol or substance use and that no citations were given at the scene, though the investigation is still ongoing.

Both Fetterman, his wife, and the other driver, a 62-year-old woman, were transported to War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, W.Va. All three were wearing shoulder and lap seat belts at the time of the incident.

Fetterman did release a short video on Sunday evening, expressing his appreciation for supporters’ well wishes.
