Fetterman Raises $1 Million in Two Weeks Since Floating 2022 Senate Bid

Lt. Gov. John Fetterman appears to jump out to an early fundraising advantage for potential 2022 candidates.

Fetterman, who announced two weeks ago that he’s exploring a run for U.S. Senate in 2022, has raised over $1 million. He wrote in a tweet on Monday that he’s received 33,000 donations with the average donation being $32. Fetterman added that a majority of the donors are from Pennsylvania and that he’s received a donation from every one of the state’s 67 counties.

“We’re just overwhelmed,” Fetterman said in a video on Twitter, alongside his wife, Gisele, and dog, Levi. “Thank you so much.”

“99% of our donations are $200 or less,” Fetterman said later in the video. “I mean, this is really grassroots.”

Fetterman has already surpassed the amount he raised during his 2016 Senate bid. During his third place finish in the Democratic primary in 2016, the then-Braddock mayor raised just under $760,000 during the campaign.

Fetterman isn’t the lone Democrat reportedly mulling a run for Senate in 2022. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported earlier this month that Reps. Brendan Boyle (D-Philadelphia) and Conor Lamb (D-Allegheny), state Sen. Sharif Street (D-Philadelphia), Montgomery County Commissioner Valerie Arkoosh, and former state Treasurer Joe Torsella are also seen as possible candidates.

  1. 1 million in two weeks? Wow! It certainly challenges other candidates to start raising money for US Senate. Again, wow! Very impressive achievement.

    1. Or should I call it blocking? Although I did see they let somebody else steal my user handle and make a patently false post recently. How does that happen?
