Fitzpatrick Joins Rep. Blackburn in Calling for Obamacare Repeal
Calls Obamacare new taxes masquerading as healthcare reform
LEVITTOWN, Pa– Today, Mike Fitzpatrick was joined by Congressman Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and local healthcare professionals in calling for a repeal of Obamacare. The legislation was pushed through Congress earlier this year with the support of Congressman Patrick Murphy and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
“More and more, the ugly truths of Obamcare are coming to light,” Fitzpatrick said at a noontime press conference outside the office of Dr. David S. C. Pao, M.D., “the bill contains nineteen new taxes, fees, and cuts to existing programs. Everything from medical devices to real estate sales to existing health plan are taxed to pay for this plan.”
In addition to the new taxes listed by Fitzpatrick, Obamacare also fines individuals who do not purchase government-approved healthcare. Further, many patients have already seen double digit increases in health insurance premiums since the law’s enactment.
“Obamacare is a huge interference in the doctor-patient relationship,” said Dr. Brian Priest, “instead of helping doctors help patients, Obamacare places the IRS squarely in the middle of healthcare decisions and does nothing to address skyrocketing malpractice premiums.”
Republicans in the House of Representatives have championed a repeal of Obamacare and replacing it with real reform that limits junk lawsuits, creates real competition to drive down healthcare costs and provides tax incentives, not tax penalties to purchase healthcare.
“Mike Fitzpatrick knows that Obamacare is the wrong prescription for American healthcare,” said Blackburn, “if we hope to make progress on real healthcare reform, we need him in Washington to support common sense solutions.”
