Folmer Backs Pinto for Auditor

Frank Pinto is running against the endorsement for Pa. Auditor General – the GOP state committee backed Pa. Rep. John Maher (R-Allegheny). Today at the Pa. Leadership Conference, he picked up the support of Pa. Sen. Mike Folmer (R-Lebanon).

Pinto is the former president of the Pa. Community Bankers Association.

“I’ve known Frank a long time. He’s a good man, an honorable man, and principled,” Folmer said.

Folmer, himself no friend of the GOP establishment has also backed U.S. Senate candidate Tom Smith, also over the GOP state committee endorsement.

“I think primaries should be open,” he said. “Normally, as an elected official, I stay out of them. But the Pinto family has been part of my family.”

Smith, he said, has been a friend since 2006.

The Democratic candidate is Pa. Rep. Eugene DePasquale (D-York).

  1. Taylor- The Dauphin County web site shows that Frank had delinquent property taxes during 9 of the past 10 years. How can he be taken seriously as a taxpayer watchdog when the tax collector watchdogs have had to chase him down over and over and over?? Do you think it is fair to pay late over and over when his neighbors obey the law?

  2. Tim – First, Frank Pinto was the President/CEO of a banking association for the last 26 years. Second, if you consider “qualified” to mean that you voted for your own pay raise in the middle of the night and that you voted to increase your pension by 50% – Then by all means, vote for for the other candidate because he certainly has already shown how much he cares for the taxpayers dollars. Obviously, the only thing he cares about is himself.
    VOTE FRANK PINTO!

  3. Taylor – I find it astounding that you would choose a lobbyist over a CPA / Auditor for Auditor General. But I guess that explains your response.
We should be electing a qualified candidate for a change!

  4. BS – If that was a requirement for the job, that would be another story. We have never had an auditor for auditor general in the history of the state. Plus, last time I checked the other candidate has been a state rep for 16 years not an auditor! I agree with Jane. If that’s what you call qualified, we are all in trouble. I guess you don’t mind the state being in such fiscal disrepair due to the pension grab that he was a part of.

  5. Actually, what I call qualified for a candidate for Auditor General is someone who has some sort of experience in auditing.

  6. To B.S
Your “qualified” candidate voted for the pay raise, accepted the pension grab,is running for 2 offices at once & now accepted a $25,000 campaign contribution from the gov.!!!
Is this what you call qualified?!!!!!! Give me break!!!

  7. I guess a hand picked puppet and $25,000.00 is business as usual in your mind Tim! How long have you worked for state committee?

  8. Great for Pinto! He is MY pick!! Also, Tim – get with the program – the other candidate was “hand-picked” by the gov and the gov was the largest donor to his campaign. Is THAT what you want for auditor general?? The gov’s puppet??

  9. I am sure that Fulmer met Frank when he was working as a lobbiest? Not sure this is what I want in an Auditor General, politiical favors?

  10. A meaningful personal endorsement for Frank Pinto. This is how the endorsement process SHOULD work: personal endorsements.

Frank Pinto, Position #1 on the GOP Primary ballot April 24th!
