Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Enters PA-7 Race

Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Clare Putnam Pozos announced she is entering the Republican primary to replace retiring Congressman Pat Meehan.

“I decided to run for Congress because I believe residents of the 7th District deserve a fresh, common sense leader with the energy and drive to help our community thrive and make sure that our families are safe and secure,” Pozos said.

Pozos has worked as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for seven years, including working in the Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit.

“I have prosecuted international drug traffickers who flood our communities with dangerous drugs and fuel the opioid crisis in Southeastern Pennsylvania,” Pozos said.

Pozos’ announcement comes ahead of a final draw of Pennsylvania’s Congressional maps ahead of this year’s elections.  The 7th district is often considered to be one of the most gerrymandered districts in the country, meaning the redraw will likely have drastic changes on the shape of the district.

Volunteer firefighter Joe Billie, Radnor Township Commissioner Richard Booker, attorney Sean Gale, attorney Jeremy H. Gonzalez Ibrahim, ,former Senior Deputy Attorney General Pearl Kim, tax attorney Greg McCauley, and developer Wally Smerconish are all reportedly considering runs for the Republican nomination in the district.

  1. Having recently met her I am very impressed. Getting through Harvard College with honors as a conservative is a major accomplishment that must require a very thick skin. Her work as a federal prosecutor has made her very knowledgeable on the opioid situation. She is the kind of person that we need in Washington.

  2. Andy Reilly’s handpicked silver-spoon candidate! Change we can believe in!!!!!! Make america great again!!
