Former Pa. Dems Senior Advisor Takes Aim at Wolf and the #MeToo Movement

Valerie Kean Staab, a senior advisor to former Pennsylvania Democratic Party Chairman Marcel Groen until earlier this year, took aim at Governor Tom Wolf and the #MeToo movement in a email to reporters.

Kean took aim at Wolf over what she sees as a decision by the campaign to make the #MeToo movement a major part of his campaign.

“Governor Wolf was looking for a wagon to hook his horse too. We all understand that his past three years, he has little to show in terms of accomplishments as Governor. We understand that is not entirely his fault, he has been unable to find common ground with the Republican House and Senate. But other than some changes to state pensions, which few will notice, and the legalizing of medical marijuana, which is only his accomplishment in the sense that he signed a bill that others did the heavy lifting to pass, he has little to brag about,” Staab wrote in the email.

“So he is apparently he is trying to run as the “#RewardMeToo Governor.”

Staab was forced to step down as a senior advisor to Groen in early December last year over Facebook comments she made that were critical of the #MeToo movement.  Staab used the email to rehash the incident, and continue her criticisms of the movement.

“I wrote some comments on what I view as the over-reaching of the #meToo movement. But like all such movements of the past which go too far, raising such questions was apparently not acceptable,” Staab wrote.

Staab defended state Senator Daylin Leach, who faced allegations of sexual harassment, saying his “‘crime’ was apparently putting his hand on a shoulder, touching a knee, and telling jokes more than a decade ago.”

In the email, Staab directly takes issue with the calls for Leach’s resignation after the allegations surfaced.

“They say they have “zero tolerance”. Apparently they have “zero due process” as well.”

PoliticsPA reached out to the Wolf campaign for comment on this story.

  1. To know Valerie is to dismiss her. She is not a team player and never has been. That she was so far up Marcel’s ass, and yet still wasn’t part of the Governor’s inner circle shows she is not really a player. She’s combative, crude, disrespectful of other opinions and basically a political slug. See ya!

  2. It is looking good for the Republicans to make Wolf a one term governor. The only thing that might save Wolf is the antics of Wagner.

  3. It’s classic psychological projection. She’s the one who’s irrelevant. And a very poor writer. Still hasn’t learned that overexposure is a bad move. Her comment reeks of defensiveness and is nothing but Shakespearean striking out.

  4. “Not every story a narcissist tells is one of victory. But even in the stories of tragedy or failure, there’s an air of entitlement and victimization”
    Sound familiar Val…

    1. AAA-spot in.
Watch Some of the desperate shit her and Daylin do next….any attention is better than none. Ironically in a way we all play into it by discussing them. Watch them go bat shit if none of us mention them for a few days

  5. Oh Noooo!! It’s the return of Sasquatch!
I hope it does keep talkin, what else would we have to laugh at? Lol

    1. I do not like her, but your comment is derogatory to all women. She’s awful but deserves to be treated as an awful HUMAN.

  6. Corrections and truth Betty: Val is correct in her statements about Tom Wolf. He is managing to make the Democratic Party irrelevant. There is a reason that Nancy Mills jumped all over Marcel and Val to resign (as we see she will run for chair of the State committee). Chairman Burns was a person with dreams and zero ability to accomplish any of them. Once Congressman Brady removed his support of Burn and the party staff all resigned, Burn was done. (Wishes of Wolf, yes.) Tom Wolf was in Rendells administration and has been aware of sexual harassment behind the scenes for a very long time. So why now? Easy answer #rewardmetoo. Val is correct as she says, Wolf had no wagon to hook his horse too. #rewardmetoo. Why push an 80 year old woman as party chair? Is that supposed to invigorate our dying party? Wolf hates the organization of state party, house, or senate. He wants total control of all three. Chairman Groen ran and won without a drop of support from Wolf. Groen had a dream, ability, and experience to build an independent state Party. Look at the records, Wolf has given zero financial help to the party. What he gives he spends. Look at the records of financial help from Hanna or Mills to the state party. Wolf handpicked openly supported Hanna and Mills. Why he needed the party to stop building. The incompetent ED that was forced on the party by Wolf was an olive branch by Groen. Big mistake. Wolf wanted Dumb and dumbest to have titles so they could smile and carry his water.
Val looks like an idiot now because she and Marcel were Tom Wolf groupies and participated to do the same thing to the former chairman, all so Marcel could be chairman. Now she is crying foul because Karma came calling and they got exactly what they deserved. Wolf hated both of these people from day one, just as much as he hated Burn.

    1. Funny Val, you contradict so much of what you say!! The committee NEVER wanted Marcel isn’t that where it counts? The Party was already independent before Groen. Once Groen became chairman, Wolf’s staff was again working at State Party HQ…. Certainly doesn’t cry out “Independent Leader”. Lol

      1. Val
Your boy couldn’t put a patch on Tina, TJ or Burn’s ass.
They had winning records and PA was blue.
It’s about winning you sorry soul.

        1. Val, you have openly called staff in the state party “dumb and dumber”’ so we all know this is you. Get a damn life – or maybe go back to work for the Auditor General and stop worrying so much about politics while you’re on the state’s clock.

          1. Sinceré is going to be integral to leading and overseeing the new State Party team,” said Party Chairman Marcel Groen. “She has the talent and vision to advance our message and raise its profile in both the state and the nation, and I look forward to working with her.”

Prior to joining the PA Democrats, Harris played a key role in the Tom Wolf for Governor

  8. She resigned twice. Ian, quit letting her back in. She doesn’t understand that she’s embarrassing herself.

  9. Thanks David. I told my friend elected officials were permitted to exchange delegate passes for campaign donations. You know how people are. They think everything is illegal.

  10. EVERYONE SHOULD THANK GOD THAT MARCEL THE GROEN HAS BEEN KICKED TO THE CURB . MARCEL MARSO WAS AN UNMITIGATED DISASTER TO THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY . DING DONG THE BITCH IS DEAD !

  11. She could always get a gig down in Orlando standing in for Miss Piggy at the muppets 4D show at Disney Studios.

    1. Why-
She is getting attacked because she got what she deserved. She and Marcel did exactly what Wolf wanted them to do. Why did Marcel make her his Senior advisor? She was never elected to State Comittee to actually be there, attended these meetings for 30 years for “fun”.
Their relationship was a rumor prior to Marcel making her his Senior advisor and their behavior after that was downright obnoxious!

  12. Imagine being so irrelevant that you would take the time to write something defending sexual assaulters. And then imagine thinking that it’s a good idea to actually send that letter to Politics PA!

Tom Wolf is a good man with a good heart and has done a great deal of good for Pennsylvania. I’m proud he’s our governor.

Valerie, nobody knows who you are. Your 15 minutes of fame haven’t even started. Get a life.

    1. Valerie’s hate and rage, Marcel’s disgraceful exit and the whole current PA Dem shit show are direct results of Tom Wolf interfering with the State Party. Don’t give him a pass, he created this embarrassment, let him wear it because he earned it and deserves all of it.

      1. Tom Wolf won’t get a pass either. Marcel and Val were complicit with him and got what they both deserved.

  13. I am so very glad that The Double Agent Marcel Groen is gone and has been chased out of The Democratic Party . He was being Paid by Republicans to Screw up The Democratic Party Just like he did when he was running things at The Bucks County Democratic Party this Val Staab has been a real loser as well always fighting against Democrats but that is to be expected since she is Marcel’s Girlfriend .

    1. ALL THE OLD DEAD WOOD

  14. Asking for a Friend. If a Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff and or Executive Director exchanged Delegate passes to the National Convention for candidate campaign donations, is that legal?

  15. hey val, how’s your press junket going?

I only see this article, so far. good job!!

Maybe show some respect to the brave women and allies working to reform this party, instead of being bitter about your complicity.

  16. extreme cardi b reading fire and fury at the grammys voice: why am i reading this shit? i can’t believe this. i can’t believe that she really… this how she lives her life?

  17. Why hasn’t #RewardMeToo Tom Wolf demanded resignations from Lawmakers who have been found guilty of breaking the Law? DUI Driving under the influence is ok with #RewardMeToo Tom Wolf. PFA Protection from Abuse is ok with #RewardMeToo Tom Wolf. Not a word on real criminals from #RewardMeToo Tom Wolf.

  18. About twice a year I find myself agreeing with Diano. He’s right about Daylin. This is absurd. His supporters remind me of Trump voters, in that it doesn’t matter to them what the facts are, they have a tribal need to support Daylin. It needs to stop.

    1. Rex-

The difference between Trump supporters and Daylin’s supporters is that Trump’s supporters actually believe all the racist stuff Trump promotes.

Daylin’s supporters are just wh*res sucking at his teat hoping he’ll help them with donations, or cowards that aren’t as brave as the 20-something year old women that stood up to expose him. They are deaf to the fact that Daylin had been confronted and reprimanded about his behavior and he persisted (not like Elizabeth Warren persisted).

  19. Well….

Val is right that wolf has few accomplishments. (Vetoing abortion restrictions was correct, but hardly any “work”.) The imbalanced legislature is entirely his fault for ignoring sound advise in 2014 to use his coattails to link Corbett to the GOP legislators and help the Dem challengers.

Val is completely wrong about Daylin. There are numerous, credible reports from women (and even men who witnessed his crude/inappropriate behavior). Daylin’s own responses have been a combination of admitting the behavior and laughing it off by blaming the women.

The entire Montgomery County Dem committee seems afflicted by blindness on Daylin. The Montco Dems women’s group won’t speak up against him. Marcel wouldn’t and neither will current chair, Joe Foster. Val Arkoosh is notably silent. Same for Josh Shapiro.

Yesterday I got a fundraising email from Mary Jo Daley (who is in Daylin’s district), and she bragged about how she has stood up against Republican right-wing extremists. Unfortunately, she’s mute on criticizing Daylin as well.

It’s pretty obvious that the Montco leadership has long been well aware of Daylin and been covering for him because he’s been (past tense) a good fundraiser for them. Now, they are stuck being hypocrites in 3 categories
    1) covering for Daylin all along
    2) not speaking out when the allegations became public
    3) still maintaining a wall of silence

BTW, I heard that the DCCC has a new policy where they will not be supporting any candidate with credible allegations against them.

So, Daylin is ineligible for DCCC help (under this new standard), and his dwindling supporters need to realize that beyond being a disgrace, he’s not viable for his current office, let alone higher office.

Also, it’s my understanding that Daylin’s been using intermediaries to bother his accusers with fake attempts to apologize in order to claim he’s been forgiven.

HEY DAYLIN: If you REALLY want to apologize: RESIGN
