The man who served as sergeant at arms and head of security for the PA Democratic Party for nearly two decades has been charged with sexual assault in the Lehigh Valley.
James Spang is accused of sexually assaulting a man in the bar of the Sands casino in Bethlehem, the Morning Call reports.
Spang is currently a member of Democratic State Committee representing Lehigh County. He served as state party sergeant at arms in 1986 until 2003, and was the head of security at the 1992 Democratic National Convention in New York City. He is head of security at the Allentown Fairgrounds.
Immediate past Party Chairman TJ Rooney fired Spang on the first day of his tenure in 2003, says a source close to Rooney.
In 1993, Spang faced similar charges and was acquitted.
Correction: An earlier version of this story indicated that Spang had served until 2010. The story has been updated to reflect that fact.

What a surprise. A deMOBocrat and a dysfunctional sex freak. Wonder what the judge will charge this time to make the charges go away.
