FUND-RAISING: HERR FAR OUTSTRIPS PITTS WITH INDIVIDUALS

FUND-RAISING:  HERR FAR OUTSTRIPS PITTS WITH INDIVIDUALS

The Herr 2010 Congressional campaign has released its third-quarter fund-raising figures, showing a three-fold increase in receipts from the second quarter and a total nearly matching that of incumbent Joseph Pitts, with individual givers far outstripping Pitts”.

Figures filed with the Federal Elections Commission show total receipts of $115,628.70 during the quarter ending September 30th.  Of that total, $76,242.35 was contributed by 186 individuals, and $33,676.89 was contributed by political committees and labor organizations.  No contributions were received from corporate Political Action Committees (PACs).

Mac Booker, Herr 2010 campaign manager, noted that Herr’s total was triple the second-quarter total (up by $78,451), and within five percent of the total raised by seven-term incumbent Joe Pitts.  Moreover, 68.5 percent of Herr’s total came from individuals, compared with 21.7 percent of Pitts’ total.  “The fact that the bulk of Lois Herr’s money came from 186 separate individuals, while Pitts itemized only 28 individual donors demonstrates convincingly again that Lois Herr is the candidate of the people, who will represent the individual residents of the 16th District in Congress,” Booker said.

Noting that Pitts had received 77.8 percent of his money from corporate and industry PACs, while Herr had received no corporate PAC money, Booker said, “It’s plain to see who the corporate candidate is in this election.”

Herr welcomed the successful third-quarter results, saying, “When I started this race, some people said I had no chance.  Well, I’ve been surprising people my whole life, and on November 2nd, I’m going to surprise people again.”
