The Gerlach campaign released a new ad today, going negative on Democratic hopeful Manan Trivedi over his “extreme” agenda.
The ad, which will air all across PA-6, cites misleading attacks on Gerlach as a distraction from the “extreme” policies Trivedi wants to bring to Congress.
“Trivedi is hiding his extreme agenda,” the ad says. “So extreme, pledging to only work with liberals if elected. So extreme, Trivedi said billions in wasted stimulus was absolutely necessary. Our money for jobs in China, and bonuses for Wall Street? Absolutely necessary?”
This is the second ad released by Gerlach, and both have attacked Trivedi (as both of Trivedi’s ads have attacked Gerlach). It’s a strong indicator that Gerlach isn’t overlooking Trivedi’s bid for PA-6.
Trivedi spokesperson Darren Berringer says that Gerlach has something to say to Trivedi, he shouldn’t hide behind his ads.
“Congressman Gerlach’s ad is just as flimsy as his record,” said Berringer. “If Congressman Gerlach has something to say, then why is he too afraid to say it to Manan’s face in a televised debate? The answer is quite simple: Lying in public is even hard for a 20 year Washington politician like Jim Gerlach to pull off.”
Gerlach’s campaign also boasted that its fundraising report with the FEC – due today – will show over $2 million raised on the cycle so far and nearly $750,000 on hand. Gerlach ended the 2nd quarter in June having raised $1.67 million, so it seems possible that he and Trivedi had similar hauls. Trivedi raised $433K in the 3rd quarter but did not say his cash on hand.
