Gerlach’s 140-Character Jobs Plan: “Volunteer for my Campaign!”

While Trivedi’s on Air Detailing His Jobs Plan, Gerlach Tweets

ELVERSON, Pa – Yesterday morning, Manan Trivedi, Democratic nominee for Pennsylvania’s 6th Congressional District, released a new TV ad focusing on his mission to put Americans back to work. Trivedi has been criss-crossing the district discussing his comprehensive plan to bring jobs back to Pennsylvania, and that detailed plan can be read on his website here. Yet so far, Gerlach’s plan to tackle the number one issue facing our community had yet to be seen.

Yesterday afternoon, it seemed like the plan might have finally surfaced. On Twitter, Congressman Gerlach invited his followers in a tweet to “Learn how u can help me fight for private sector job growth” by clicking on a link. Rather than providing the expected policy information, that link redirects visitors to the volunteer page of his website.

“On the same day that Manan Trivedi launches his TV ad which lays out his comprehensive jobs plan,” campaign spokesperson Lindsay Fritchman said, “Jim Gerlach responds through Twitter claiming that his followers can learn about his desire to fight for the job growth our district desperately needs by clicking on a link to his website. Oddly, the link directs you to a page where you can sign up to volunteer for his campaign but says absolutely nothing about job growth. Instead of a comprehensive jobs plan, the best Congressman Gerlach seems to be able to come up with is 140 characters asking people to give their time to ensure he keeps his own job as a Washington politician.

“People in Pennsylvania need jobs, not volunteering opportunities on your campaign, Congressman Gerlach.”
