GOP Delegate Candidates Make Their Case (VIDEO)

Pennsylvania has some unique delegate rules.

As we’ve mentioned before, in the GOP presidential primary just 17 of the 71 delegates are bound to the statewide winner. The other 54 delegates, three elected in each congressional district, are not bound to any candidate.

While the campaigns of Donald Trump and Ted Cruz have circulated list of approved slates, there’s no guarantee that even those candidates will ultimately vote the way they’ve pledged to.

So just who are the men and women hoping to be one of those fifty-four?

Jacob Soboroff (MSNBC’s “Delegate Hunter”) went to Conshohocken to interview some of the candidates.

Jim Worthington told Soboroff that he’s spent $30,000 on his campaign to win a spot at the Cleveland convention.

The reporter also talked to Cruz supporter Aldridk Gessa.

“You kind of like one of the most important people in American politics that nobody knows about,” Soboroff said, mentioning that the PA delegation may decide whether Trump gets the nomination.

“Yeah, I guess I’ll be like a celebrity for about ten minutes,” she responded.

Soboroff also told Steve Kornacki that from his own experience he’s not sure that the delegates will vote for the winner of their district as many have indicated.

We’ll have more on the delegate process after the results come in tonight.
