GOP PAC Pulls Out of PA Stations

Rumors are swirling that conservative interest group Americans For Prosperity is pulling their ads in Pennsylvania, which could leave PA without a conservative ad presence just as the 2012 campaign season begins in earnest.

NBC political reporter Chuck Todd tweeted this on Monday:

“Americans for Prosperity (the Koch group) has cancelled the rest of their PA TV ad buy. Still up in other swing states including MN and NM”

However, AFP is mum on their current media market situation, and did not confirm whether or not they are pulling away from PA.

“We’re making changes to our ad flights frequently – nothing necessarily stays the same for long. Beyond that, we actually don’t discuss details of our own internal strategy,” said AFP Spokesperson Levi Russell to the Philadelphia Daily News.

The Daily News also confirmed that AFP ads are coming down on two Philly TV stations: ABC-6 and NBC-10.

Along with Restore our Future, AFP was a consistent source of conservative clout for Pennsylvanians, releasing two major ad buys in the month of August. Their most recent ad featured a group of previous Obama supporters who said they will not be voting for Obama on Nov. 6.

Now with AFP supposedly pulling out, and no announcement on any further Restore our Future buys, it appears that Pennsylvania could fall farther away from swing state consideration.

  1. Republicans are realizing that Pennsylvania is a deep blue state with a few numbnut Tea Partiers like Mike Fitzpatrick in congress. Even the Koch brothers know that theres no helping that douchebag

    Your Quote:
Hell will most likely freeze over before Obama becomes a Republican. Why in God’s name would someone vote for him again?? His record is dismal and the country is moving in the wrong direction. Granted, if he is re-elected, the odds of contraceptives and abortions being available on every street corner store will go up, but the economy is essentially facing the same problems that it was facing in 2008 and has not significantly improved.

    Okay … where to start:

Unemployment when he took office from the GOP – 10+%

    Unemployment now – 8%

The Stock Market when he took office – 6000

The Stock Market today – 13107.48

Crippling Job Losses at the end of 2008 beginning of 2009.. Now? Job Growth (although slow)

Recession at the time of Obama taking office.. Now? Small Growth..

IN EVERY WAY SHAPE AND FORM our Nation is better off than when Bush and the Republicans left office. Ignorance is no Excuse.. Inform yourself better if you plan to vote. Parroting the Know Nothing Quite Frankly DISHONEST talking points of the Right Wing Media shows nothing but your Own lack of Knowledge. Take the time to educate yourself on the actual Numbers.

There is a Reason Chris Christie said this during his Keynote speech:

“It doesn’t matter how we got here”.. Referring to Our Present Weak Economic State..

The reason? Because the way we got here was over 10 years of Republican Trickle Up Policies.

  3. Oh, what a wonderful thing it would be if ALL political ads could only run for the four weeks immediately preceding the November election!

  4. NateDogg-

OMG! Do you really think we can get contraceptives and abortions available on every street corner?

    That would be AWESOME!

… one flaw…. if we can get easy access to contraception, we wouldn’t need that many abortions.

    Darn Logic!

Now how can we get all those abortions we want women to have? How about taking away the contraception and teaching abstinence? That will lead to a lot more unwanted pregnancies.. Yea!

  5. I am seeing a DEM sweep in PA from President to US Senate, to AG, Treasurer and 3 congressional seat switches to the Dems. The Auditor general race is up in the air.

  6. What has the Republican Party ever done for you, Nate? Are you better off than you were 11 yrs ago, or 5 years ago? Did you get any large tax breaks ? Do you benefit from any of the Affordable Care Act? Do you know what the benefits are? If it is a bad policy then give back your benefits. Or should you pay more taxes so the guys who make more in a minute that you do in a year, can get another tax break? You know, the ones who did not hire anyone in the businesses they sent overseas for cheap labor? And while you are monitoring contraceptives, why don’t you take them or take responsibility for the children who are the result of rape or incest? Since when do men get the right to govern a woman’s body? Women do not tell men it is time for a vasectomy even tho we should!

  7. Alex, he needs help in Congress. We need to toss out the slugs who have done nothing but pass idiotic “reaffirm in God we trust,” bills while vowing their number one priority is to defeat the president (in lieu of helping the country).

  8. @natedogg. Pennsylvania realizes that 4 1/2 million private sector jobs, a rescued auto industry and wall street at all time highs are all things to be proud of. its just the beginning too, a second Obama term will bring economic prosperity to America

  9. Could it be that Governor Corbett’s low popularity in the state is affecting the Presidential election?

  10. “Wow you sound like a mis-guided, ill-informed, bigot.”

And you base that on what, exactly?

“The makings of a perfect Republican.”

Right, because all Republicans are rich and evil and stupid and racist.

“If conservatives had their way they would create an American Taliban in which Christianity is the only religion and the Bible is the only authority.”

Right. OK. Sounds like liberal hysteria to me.

“The GOP has become the party of racist and intolerant religious nut jobs trying to force their way of life on others.”

Can you give me an example of racism? Or for that matter, an example of a Democrat who ISN’T trying to force their way of life on others?

“To be a Republican in this day and age is completely Un-American because that party has gone too far to the right.”

Any yet, Obama said in 2008 that Bush was unpatriotic because the national debt increased under his watch. Now the debt has increased multiple times under Obama’s watch. By his own logic, isn’t Obama the most unpatriotic president we’ve had to date?

“If you love the greatness of American then don’t vote Republican.”

And if you’re a freedom-loving, free-thinking, clear-minded individual who believes in opportunity and a better future, then don’t vote Democrat(ic).
