Green Party supports residents of Dimock

Since DEP Secretary John Hanger announced his decision to construct a
pipeline from Lake Montrose to Dimock to provide safe drinking water to the
residents who are unable to use their wells, there has been a backlash.
Cabot has denied all responsibility.  They claim that methane was present in
the Dimock water before they began drilling.  Now there is a “No Water Line”
Public Meeting on October 21st in The Elk Lake High School Auditorium.

This week, the Green Party of Pennsylvania Steering Committee voted
unanimously to support the residents of Dimock in their attempt to receive
safe water.  “While this is not the perfect solution, it is better than
daily filling of water buffaloes outside the residents homes,” stated State
Representative candidate Jay Sweeney.  “Unfortunately, their water cannot be
returned to the condition it was in before Cabot started drilling
operations.”  Sweeney is running in the 111th District which covers
northeast Pennsylvania and Is adjacent to Dimock.

The Green Party of Pennsylvania is an independent political party that
stands in opposition to the two corporate parties.  The Green Party of
Pennsylvania stands for grassroots democracy, social justice, nonviolence,
and ecology.
