Harris, Walz Launch PA Bus Tour in Pittsburgh

Kamala Harris and Tim Walz

“Does This Bus Stop at 82nd Street?”

Bruce Springsteen, who returns to Pittsburgh for the first time in eight years on Thursday, posed that question in song a few decades ago and we will see if it is answered in the positive when Vice President Kamala Harris and running mate Tim Walz kick off a Pennsylvania bus tour on Sunday.

Harris and Walz will begin their trip across the Commonwealth in Pittsburgh and plan to make multiple stops during the course of the day, according to campaign officials. The tour comes one day before the start of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

It will mark the first time that the pair will campaign together with their respective spouses, second gentleman Doug Emhoff and Gwen Walz.

Although a specific schedule has not been released as of this publication date, the tour is expected to focus on meeting voters in community settings such as retail locations while also including canvass kickoff events.

The move underscores the importance that the Democrats place on Pennsylvania and its 19 electoral votes. Just last week, Harris introduced Walz as her running mate in Philadelphia.

The tour will mark Harris’ eighth visit to the Keystone State this year.

Republican candidate Donald Trump and his running mate JD Vance will also be in the Commonwealth this week. Trump will hold a rally in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday, while Vance will speak in Lower Burrell on Thursday.

A swing state poll conducted by The Cook Political Report showed Harris with a 48-43% advantage over Trump in Pennsylvania in a multi-candidate race.
