Harris Wins PA Progressive Straw Poll

The Keystone Progress Summit took place in Pittsburgh this weekend to hold the first presidential straw poll for 2020.

A trio of Senators led the pack, all holding a sizable advantage over the rest of the ever growing Democratic field.

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) finished in first with 26 votes. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) captured second place with 23 votes and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) followed closely behind with 21 votes.

“While the straw poll is not scientific, and it’s early in the election cycle, it’s clear progressives in Pennsylvania have favorites, and Kamala Harris winning shows her campaign is off to a great start,” said Dan Doubet, Executive Director of Keystone Progress.

The only other Democrat to crack double digits is Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH).

The weekend featured addresses from Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto, newly elected state Sen. Lindsey Williams (D-Allegheny) and Second Lady of Pennsylvania, Gisele Fetterman.

  1. Harris more progressive than TheBern and Warren, according to those in attendance huh? This previous attendee of many years is glad he stayed home then. Anyone who wants to preserve our predatory for profit healthcare system can not possibly the most progressive anything. #FeelTheBern2020

    1. I was in attendance and was surprised as well. Having attended many Progressive Summits, I was especially surprised because the attendees are often the most progressive, left leaning people I know. Maybe this year’s attendees were less lefty?

      1. Usually that is what we have been, Sheri. I don’t see past years attendees selecting Kamala Come Lately as even truly progressive. Or liberal. Or socialist. Or whatever we are supposed to call ourselves this week to not piss off those who would never support us no matter what we call ourselves this week. Disappointing.

  2. I know all the young progressives want to make history in 2020, but Trump needs to go. Sherrod Brown should be the pick to bring the party and country together and get TRUMP OUT. History can be made later, we must get this country back to normal business and out of the day to day crazy of Trump.

  3. Sherrod Brown is the real deal. HE would be a sure bet to beat Trump next year. A ticket with him and Harris can get the job done.
