Harrisburg Patriot News Considers Going to 0 Days a Week

Patriot News emptyThe Harrisburg Patriot-News made (digital) headlines late in 2012 with its decision to reduce print schedule from 7 to 3 days per week. Now sources at the paper indicate it’s looking to take the next step.

“If you look at the long term trend in the news industry, it’s clear that the Patriot News will simply be moving ahead of the curve,” said former PN Editor David Newhouse.

  1. Out of sight and out of mind. I still like the Patriot and read it thoroughly on Tue, Thu and Sunday but for the other days I get my news elsewhere. I also get the P-N daily blurb which I scan for all of 30 seconds before I hit delete. This decision will make the Patriot-News a superficial shadow of its former self and in virtual terms it won’t exist.

Frankly, it would be great if some local capitalists were to take the ownership back to this area. Maybe they could reduce the Patriot’s path to irrelevance.
