Lemoyne Borough Councilman Jesse Monoski declared his candidacy for the open seat in the 103rd Legislative District seat.

A Cumberland County native, Monoski is running for the Democratic nomination to replace Rep. Patty Kim (D-Dauphin) who is opting to vacate her seat to contend for the 15th District state Senate seat.

“The Harrisburg-Area is my home, and the residents and businesses within the 103rd District deserve strong, compassionate representation,” said Monoski. “I am committed to leveraging my state and local experience to address the pressing issues facing our communities.”

Monoski, who serves as the chair of the Zoning & Ordinance committee for Lemoyne Borough, also is an executive director for the Pennsylvania State Democratic Caucus. He has worked with state Sens. Lisa Boscola (D-Lehigh/Northampton), Jay Costa (D-Allegheny) and former senator John Sabatina.

The 2016 graduate of Temple University is married and has two daughters.

Two other area Democrats have also declared their interest in Kim’s seat – Tina L. Nixon, who leads diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives for UPMC, and Camp Hill Borough Councilwoman Mercedes Evans.

The 103rd District comprises parts of both Cumberland and Dauphin counties, including Camp Hill, Lemoyne, Wormleysburg, East Pennsboro Township, and the city of Harrisburg.
