The Democratic candidate for the state House in the 109th District – Ed Giannattasio – passed away on Monday. He was 64 years old.

He had a recent recurrence of multiple myeloma.

Giannattasio is on the ballot against Republican Robert Leadbeter and Libertarian Thomas Anderson.

Should Giannattasio prevail, a special election would be called in Columbia County to fill the vacant House seat.
