HD-12: Metcalfe Puts Another Primary Behind Him

MetcalfeWith all 22 districts reporting, longtime incumbent House Representative Daryl Metcalfe has soundly defeated challenger Gordon Marburger to secure the GOP nomination for District 12.

First elected in 1998, 17-year veteran Metcalfe received 60% of the vote to Marburger’s 40%. With 99% of the precincts in, Metcalfe received 7,870 votes to Marburger’s 5,301 votes.

This comes as a rematch for the two after a debacle in 2014. After being removed from the GOP ballot weeks before the 2014 primary for not filing a financial interest statement with Pennsylvania election authorities, Marburger waged a write-in campaign, coming in just shy of the nomination.

Metcalfe will face Democrat Christian Rieger in the general election, though the district heavily favors Republicans.

The 12th District covers part of Butler County.

  1. Pity that Marburger lost. Metcalfe spends more time posturing and picking fights than looking after the welfare of the district.

  2. Citizens from around the state who have worked with Representative Metcalfe recognize him as one of the very few in elected office who actually honors his oath of office and his constituents.
