Community activist Carrie Stare announced her candidacy for the 160th Legislative District seat on Monday.

Running for the Democratic nomination, Stare has been active in various community initiatives, including being President of LGBT Equality Alliance of Chester County, Westtown Township Parks and Recreation Commissioner, and Westttown, Thornbury, Birmingham Democratic Committee member.

“After careful consideration and deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities that our community faces, I believe that now is the time for proactive and effective leadership. I am driven by a genuine desire to contribute to the betterment of our community and the well-being of its residents,” Stare said.

She says her priorities are to create a stronger, fairer economy in Pennsylvania; protect and strengthen public schools; vigorously defend access to affordable healthcare that includes women’s choice and reproductive rights; safeguard our environment; and ensure no one in the community is left behind.

“I believe in fostering collaboration among community members, local businesses, local non-profits, and government entities to develop effective and inclusive solutions,” said Stare in a campaign announcement. “As State Representative, I will work tirelessly to bring people together for the common good.”

Rep. Craig Williams (R-Chester/Delaware), who has announced his candidacy for Pennsylvania Attorney General, is intending to also run for the 160th seat again.

Stare lives in Westtown Township with her partner, Danielle, and cat, Eleanor. Stare holds a B.A. in Political Science from Millersville University and Masters in Public Administration from West Chester University.
