Yesterday, Speaker Mike Turzai scheduled a March 24th special election to fill the seat of now-Congressman Brendan Boyle. Today, the GOP has announced their nominee for the 170th legislative district.
Martina White, a 26 year-old financial advisor, is the choice of the Republican Party.
“Martina White is the type of person I will need to join me in the Majority Caucus in Harrisburg to advocate for Northeast Philadelphia,” stated Philly GOP Chairman and State Representative John Taylor. “It is rare to find a candidate that has the combination of tenacity, creativity and intellect that Martina possesses.”
“This race will be all about getting our people out to the polls,” said Philadelphia Republican Party Executive Director Joe DeFelice. “This seat was recently held by Republican George Kenney and new portions of this District were part of the former 169th District formerly held by fellow Republican and Former House Speaker and current City Councilman Denny O’Brien. Republicans routinely do well in this section of the City and are tired of the higher taxes and poor services they have received. Martina will not allow this section of the City to continue to be forgotten.”
White is a resident of Somerton and a graduate of Elizabethtown College.

Ann Neissen please don’t say lies. There isn’t any trash being dump. Dirt is being brought in to make pastures and riding rings. The program has grown so much in popularity that more horses and rings are needed to accommodate the numerous parents calling for lessons for there children. Safe riding areas are needed. Sarah has invited neighbors to come and see the work she is doing on several occasions. I am sure you were invite and attended these walk threws. I allow Sarah to use my horse for the program for I see the need and benefit. Sarah amazes me that she is able to obtain resources on such a tight budget.I am a boarder and would be the first to complain if I saw trash being dump. All I know is Sarah has an amazing way with these children and that is why I offered my horse for her lessons. Sorry to respond but I don’t care what party I am in I can’t understand why someone would say such a comment when it comes to helping children.

In the few years that he’s been Executive Director for the Republican City Committee, Joe has streamlined the entire operation;bringing the computer system up to speed, hiring top notch front office people and planting seeds, that when, in short time, will produce quality candidate after quality candidate. It started with Al Schmidt, now we have Martina! Joe’s goal’s and objectives are on schedule.
Joe Defelice is the John Cordisco of Philadelphia. It really is sad that he can take a good candidate introduction and screw it up.
