HD-197: Full Results Will Wait Until Friday

HD 197After the tallying of votes last night, the winner of the special election in the 197th House district will not be officially declared until Friday.

Republican Lucinda Little, who was the only candidate on the ballot, did not receive more votes than there were write-ins.  Philadelphia will tally write-in votes starting at 9 a.m. Friday.  The major write-in candidates were Democrat Emilio Vazquez, and Green Party candidate Cheri Honkala.

Little received 198 votes, while there were 2,483 write-ins.  It is unlikely Little will be the winner, the Republicans only slightly outperformed the 5% voter registration they hold in the district.

  1. if cheri honkala wins will she with the republicans or the democrats for the majority or the minority.

  2. There will be 1 GOP member in the State House from Philadelphia after 2018, and then when John Taylor retires, zero.

  3. This Dem hopes Cheri Honkala pulls it off. It high time that PA starts electing some independents and third parties. I’ve stood with Cheri and her fellow Greens at too many protests to count, even as prominent figures of both corporate parties mysteriously had better things to do.

  4. I hope the winner stays out of jail. The City of Philadelphia does not need a hat trick in HD 197.

  5. i was disappointed at those results last night I thinked for Lucinda little would be a great state representative in the 197th district but i’m hoping for she does runs again in a more favorable seat for her and that way is they can have 3 Republicans is to serve in the Philadelphia Delegation and that way is I can get my wish.

  6. maybe after two convicted felons and a candidate who didn’t care enough to live in the district its time to switch parties.. who could say.
