Former marketing and communications professional Hadley Haas announced that she is a candidate for Democratic nomination for the 44th Legislative District seat in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
Haas turned her attention to community organizing in 2020, shifting her focus to advocacy concentrated in the areas of Gun Violence Prevention and supporting families of children with hearing loss.
“I’m a mom, and firearms are the leading cause of death for children and teenagers across our country,” she told WHP-TV21 in October. “I think it’s really important that our legislators are accountable for that and they take action to make our state and our commonwealth more safe for our children and communities at large.”
According to her campaign website, her priorities are standing up for common sense gun laws that protect our kids, protecting our clean air and water, investing in our schools and doing more to bring good paying jobs to Pittsburgh, and invest in labor so workers are protected and paid what they are worth.
A graduate of the University of Michigan, she graduated with a degree in economics and communications.
Haas hopes to challenge incumbent Rep. Valerie Gaydos (R-Allegheny) for the seat that comprises Aleppo, Crescent, Findlay, Leet, Moon and North Fayette townships and the boroughs of Bell Acres, Edgeworth, Glen Osborne, Glenfield, Haysville, Leetsdale, Sewickley, Sewickley Heights and Sewickley Hills.
