HD114: Candidates To Debate On Feb. 27

The candidates for the special election in Pennsylvania’s 114th House District are set to debate February 27.

Democrat Bridget Malloy Kosierowski and Republican Frank Scavo will go head to head at 7 pm on Feb. 27 at the Dickson City Borough Building in Dickson City in a debate sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Lackawanna County.

Both candidates have expressed their excitement leading into this matchup.

“Thank you to the League of Women Voters of Lackawanna County for its dedication to our great democratic tradition of public debate. We look forward to a spirited forum and providing a very clear and conclusive choice for voters on March 12,” Kosierowski said in a statement.

“From late term abortions to property taxes and 2nd amendment rights, this debate will define the race as to which candidate will represent the 114th and respect Sid Michaels work and accomplishments and continue to represent all of the people with respect, honesty and dignity,” Scavo said in a statement.

The special election to fill the seat of the late Rep. Sid Michaels Kavulich, who died in October 2018 at the age of 62 from complications of open heart surgery, will be on March 12.

Kavulich represented the 114th district in Lackawanna County and served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives since 2011. He was a Democratic member of the following committees: Agriculture & Rural Affairs, Finance, Gaming Oversight, Local Government, and Tourism & Recreational Development.
