The final race in question among the 203 contested for the Pennsylvania State House during the 2022 election came to a close on Thursday night, as Democrat Mark Moffa conceded to Republican Joe Hogan in the 142nd District.
“While we stand to further narrow Joe Hogan’s current 53-vote lead, the ballots remaining in contention do not appear to be enough for me to pull ahead,” wrote Moffa in a Facebook post. “I want to congratulate Mr. Hogan and wish him well in Harrisburg. I called him this evening to concede, and he kindly returned my call to accept the concession.”
Hogan, 34, has a 53-vote advantage with just provisionals left to approve and count. A life-long resident of Bucks County, he resides in Middletown Township.
“A successful representative will work with colleagues from both sides of the aisle to make Pennsylvania an economic success story and more prosperous for all,” he told Levittown Now in October. “That is my goal. The best advice I got was from my former boss, the late Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick. Mike was a listener and made sure his staff knew to first to listen to a constituent, understand their issue, where they are coming from, and why it needs to be addressed. You do not need to be the smartest person in the room… you just need to listen and understand so that you can help someone.”
Hogan is the 101st GOP candidate to win a seat in the Pennsylvania House. Democrats won control of the chamber, 102-101, but have to replace three seats with the departure of Summer Lee (D-Allegheny) and Austin Davis (D-Allegheny) to the U.S. House and Lieutenant Governor’s mansion, respectively, and with the passing of Anthony DeLuca (D-Allegheny).
