HD-46: GOP Opponent Ortitay Beats Rep. White

Jason-OrtitayJesse White, the four-term incumbent Democrat conceded to challenger Jason Ortitay in front of supporters this evening.

White failed to outrun some of his past personal scandals including his personal attacks against the fracking industry, many of which were written anonymously online.

With more than half the precincts reporting in Allegheny and Washington Counties, Ortitay continued to expand his advantage with a 7% lead over White, 5,565 to 4,765.

White was unsuccessful in taking advantage of his primary victory over Cecil Township Supervisor Thomas Casicola, underperforming in several democratically held districts. Ortitay ran unopposed in the Republican Primary.

Ortitay, the former treasury management professional for PNC will take over in January.

The campaign focused heavily on the issues of innovations in the energy sector and educational reform.

The district includes parts of Washington and Allegheny Counties, including Oakdale and Buffalo Township.
