Democrats from across the state are descending upon the Hershey Hotel for the Winter State Committee Meeting.

Candidates for statewide office have been trying all week, and especially today, to dazzle committee members and local officials heading into the meeting to garner more support for their campaigns.

Tom Wolf:

The former Revenue Secretary not unveiled not one but two television ads this week and announced a fresh list of endorsements from elected officials. Here’s what they had to say about Wolf:

Rep. Stephen Kinsey (Philadelphia County):
“Tom Wolf is a different kind of candidate and he will be a different kind of governor. Tom Wolf is a businessman who knows what it takes to create good jobs. He will be a governor that focuses on economic development in places like Philadelphia. His experience working in York to help revitalize the city gives him unique insight to the problems facing our urban areas.”

Rep. Thaddeus Kirkland (Delaware County):
“Tom Wolf is focused on economic development that will help places like Chester City. He will make education a priority so we are not faced with situations like what happened to the Chester Upland School District. Tom Wolf knows the value of education and as we fight to make sure our schools get fair funding, Tom will be a valuable partner in the governor’s office.”

Rep. Mark Painter (Montgomery County):
“Pennsylvania needs a governor who can put us back on the right track. While we Democrats have been blessed with several good candidates, Tom Wolf stands out as the kind of leader we need to put Pennsylvania back to work. Tom will work to expand Medicaid, fully and fairly fund our public schools, and restore prosperity in a way that benefits all Pennsylvanians.”

Rep. Kevin Schreiber (York):
“Living in York, I have seen Tom Wolf’s work in the community. He has helped York schools expand and improve services for their students, he has helped to revitalize York with economic development projects, and he has been a leader in the community. Tom Wolf will be a different kind of leader, and he will bring the same change to Pennsylvania that he brought to his community in York.”

Rep. Ron Waters (Philadelphia and Delaware Counties):
“We need a governor who will put our schools and students first, and Tom Wolf will be that governor. As a leader who has worked to reduce recidivism throughout his career, I appreciate the second chance policy Tom has at his company. Tom Wolf has the right priorities, and he will fight for communities like ours as governor.”

Rep. Jake Wheatley (Allegheny County):
“Tom Wolf will fight to fix our schools and he understands the importance of a good education and its role in building a foundation for the future of Pennsylvania. Tom Wolf also has the experience creating jobs and fostering economic development that our communities need at this critical time.”

Mayor Rick Gray (Lancaster):
“Tom Wolf is the leader that Pennsylvania needs to get back on track. He will work to fully fund our schools, and he will use his experience in business to create jobs. Pennsylvania is ready for a fresh start and Tom Wolf has the skills and the background to chart a new direction for Pennsylvania.”

Rob McCord

The State Treasurer released his own list of new supporters this morning.

“It is an honor to receive the endorsement of Representatives Longietti, McNeill, Schlossberg, and former Representative Cohen,” McCord said. “Their support is invaluable to me, and with their help, we will keep pushing forward to increase opportunity and economic security for Pennsylvanians and defeat Tom Corbett.”

Here’s what these new supporters had to say about McCord:

“Rob McCord has the right vision for the state and is our best shot at beating Tom Corbett,” said Rep. Longietti. “He has support from every corner of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and on May 20th we will vote for the governor that we deserve, Rob McCord, because he will continue to fight for working families.”

“Rob McCord knows how to create jobs, and that must be one of the priorities of our next governor. We have fallen to the bottom in job creation, and we need new leadership in Harrisburg that can put people back to work. Rob understands the struggles of working class families throughout the state, understands the need to provide every child with a quality education, and has the experience as our state treasurer to bring fiscal responsibility back to our state budget,” said Rep. McNeill.

“Pennsylvania is facing a jobs and educational crisis. We have gone from near the top of the list in statewide job creation to the bottom thanks to our current administration. In communities like the one I represent, Allentown, we’ve lost 370 teachers over the last three years while property taxes have risen 20 percent,” said Rep. Schlossberg.

“I went to the same high school as Rob McCord, and we both know about and have benefited from the power of education,” said former Rep. Cohen. “Today, our children need our help and they are not getting it from our current governor, so I’m excited to endorse Rob. He won’t play the education funding shell game. He will sit down with stakeholders from across the Commonwealth to build an education plan that will not only rebuild our workforce, but will make our state the economic and educational leader that it should be.”
