So far in 2013, Pennsylvania’s freshmen Republicans are living up to campaign promises.

Congressmen Scott Perry (R-York) and Keith Rothfus (R-Allegheny) received the highest ratings of Pennsylvania’s congressional delegation on the vote scorecard compiled by Heritage Foundation sister organization Heritage Action.

Reps. Perry and Rothfus received conservative ratings of 92% and 85%, respectively, on issues such as voting “no” on additional Hurricane Sandy relief funding and “yes” on approving the Keystone XL pipeline. The House Republican average was 75%.

Sen. Pat Toomey came in 7th out of the Pa. delegation with a 74%. That’s down from his 2011 rating of 87%, the highest in Pa. at the time. Toomey’s support for background checks in conjunction with West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin was among his votes that went against the Heritage Action position.

The organization graded different votes in the House and Senate.

26 U.S. House members scored 100%, none of them from Pennsylvania. Three members of the Senate–Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and Rand Paul, received a perfect score.

Among the poorest-rated Pa. Republicans were Congressmen Pat Meehan (R-Delaware), Charlie Dent (R-Lehigh) and Mike Fitzpatrick (R-Bucks), tied at 38%. All three voted for additional federal funding for Hurricane Sandy relief.

As is to be expected, Democrats were rated poorly on the scorecard.

Reps. Brady and Matt Cartwright were tied at 8% for most moderate Democrat in the Pa. delegation. Sen. Bob Casey received a mere 5%.

Reps. Mike Doyle and Chaka Fattah received the lowest scores at 0% each.

Democratic Rep. and gubernatorial candidate Allyson Schwartz received the highest ranking for a Pa. Democrat – 10% – but the discrepancy owes to the fact that she missed two of the votes considered by HA.

  1. If Toomey opts to vote for amnesty, as directed by The Club for Growth and the U.S. Chamber of Comemrce, you can bet his ratings will fall significantly.
These elected officials sell their souls in return for campaign funds; however, it is the voters and not the money that gets these narcissists in office. A fact they all too frequently forget.
