Houlahan Ends 2017 With $950k on Hand

Democrat Chrissy Houlahan starts 2018 with $950,000 on hand after raising $1.2 million in 2017.  Houlahan is running to challenge incumbent Congressman Ryan Costello (R-Chester).

Houlahan raised over $417,000 in the fourth quarter of 2017.

“I am humbled by the outpouring of support our campaign has received.  I have been meeting with voters all over our district and most are concerned with the track our nation is on and worried that our government has abandoned the middle class and working Americans,” Houlahan said in a release announcing the fundraising totals.

Houlahan’s fundraising is outpacing Costello’s 2016 opponent Mike Parrish who only raised $411,751.58 during the 2015-2016 cycle.

According to FEC filings, Houlahan has loaned $50,000 to her campaign, raising the majority of her money from individual donations.

  1. I went to protest at Costello’s “Town Hall” at Wyomissing High School recently. I have attended or protested at many Costello events. I have always had a good relationship with his staff. At this event his staff acted like jerks. One staffer took pictures of the licenses of all the cars in the parking lot. They had the local police kick all of us off school property. We were standing next to a wall to stay out of the wind in extremely cold weather.

The worst thing was having a provocateur taking videos of the protesters. He kept trying to provoke an angry reaction by the protesters.

The turnout was very low. Just before the event the staff came out and asked most of the protesters to come into the event they had been banned from.

  2. Well, from some of the comments it’s pretty clear that Costello’s staff has started posting here.

Not a lot of reason to be excited if you don’t know what district you will wind up in. However, as a Dem, she should be excited that a fair redistricting would correct the 13-5 congressional imbalance. Also, why shouldn’t she be happy that many voters who were disenfranchised into the 6th would have more say in a fair district (and also happy to get new voters into the districts from nearby unfair districts)?

    Nadia-

Yeah, because college students that waitress on the side and run into candidates are typical posters here. You’ve been waiting 2-3 weeks for a PoliticsPA posting about her just so you can tell that story (even though you weren’t sure it was her). Costello really needs more creative staffers to fake post here.

    LizE-
I call bullsh*t on your story. There are only 4 Independent voters in the 6th congressional district with a first name of Elizabeth and last name beginning with E. (and none with first name Liz). All 4 Indy voters are essentially non-voters. Two of them have ZERO voting records. One votes only in presidential generals 2012 and 2016. The fourth one voted only once as absentee in 2012.

So, there is NO WAY that you are “an all important indy in the 6th”, let alone one that campaign would waste a mailing on.

    Observer-
Yeah. The DCCC and DNC consultants have a way of p*ssing away campaign money with little to show for it.

  3. I actually got a fundraising email (I am an all important indy in the 6th). With regards to the stalking of Costello’s home the other week, I don’t actually think Houlahan was involved in the initial incident, but in this fundraising email she actually used the attack as material. I was absolutely disgusted. I think Costello sides with Trump a little too often, but I can tell you there is no wayyyyy I would vote for someone that uses an attack on someone’s family as a way to raise money. Getting her $1.2 million or whatever is not worth disrespecting someones family and encouraging this hateful behavior.

  4. So I actually work at a local Chester County restaurant serving tables. I can’t be positive because I didn’t remember her name, but I am 98% sure I served this woman and a couple of guys 2 or 3 weeks ago. She was the most rude and disrespectful customer I’ve had since I’ve been at college here. Anytime I came to check on the table, she would glare at me and answer me very annoyed as if I was doing something wrong. Needless to say, I hope she never eats there again.

  5. Meeting with voters all over the district but she was SOOOO EXCITED when the Redistricting ruling came down. Makes you wonder which part of the 6th district she doesn’t want to represent. Lebanon? Berks? Montco? These people should be outraged that someone who wanted their vote 10 minutes ago is sooooo happy to potentially get rid of them.

  6. So what has she spent that $250,000 on? The same incompetent DNC consultants who could not beat Trump? Certainly not on mailings or publicity – I am in that district and have not heard a peep from her…

  7. Who cares about her? She’s a Hillary Clinton lover? Thus, she deserves the same fate…losing her joke of a campaign!

    1. Keep up the confidence (the same mistake Hillary made). Makes their (and my) that much easier. See you in November.

      1. First of all this makes absolutely no sense. It makes their and your easier? What does it make easier Einstein? 2nd of all, she is much, much worse than Hillary Clinton. This dirtball ran sweatshops in China. While she got rich and moved into her Chesco Estate, she paid the workers 35 cents an hour and worked them 18 hour days. I’m sure they’re not the ones contributing to her campaign..they haven’t made enough to feed themselves…

    2. Thank you for letting us all know that you are “racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic — Islamophobic”. Now kindly sit down and shut up.
