House Democrats to Hold Tweetup Response to Corbett Address

originalIn an attempt to break out of the old mold for the opposition party’s response to the Governor’s budget address, House Democrats have decided this year to hold a tweetup conversation.

The online event will take place on February 4th at 7:00 pm and is designed to open up the budget debate as much as possible.

“Whether it’s school funding, creating jobs, protecting the health and safety of Pennsylvanians, or stopping the excessive handouts to big corporations, Governor Corbett has shown a complete indifference to the needs and priorities of working families,” said Democratic Leader Frank Dermody, D-Allegheny. “House Democrats have planned a lively event to focus on what the budget means for real people, not the special interests.”

“There’s no topic too big, no detail too small when it comes to how the state’s spending plan impacts you and your family,” House Democratic Appropriations Committee Chairman Joe Markosek, D-Allegheny/Westmoreland, said. “During this tweetup, we’re ready to answer questions and hear your stories about how the Corbett years have impacted your family. House Democrats are all ears.”

To join the discussion, participants must follow @PAHouseDems, the official Twitter feed of the Pennsylvania House Democratic Caucus. Those who want to ask a question should then use the hashtag #PABudgetChat. Questions and comments can also be submitted in advance via email at PABudget@pahouse.net.

  1. Interesting that the participating Representatives chose to answer pretty much every question except those pertaining to the need for a statewide moratorium on fracking.
