Issa to Headline 2 PA Events

Congressman Darrell Issa

While 2013 may not be a congressional election year it’s never a bad time to raise money. That’s the attitude anyway of the York and Franklin County Republican parties. They are bringing in California Congressman Darrell Issa to fundraise for them this October.

The York County Republican Committee dinner will be held first on Thursday October 3rd. The event will be at the Valencia Ballroom on North George Street. Attendees must pay $75 per person to get in although committee members will get a discount and only need $65. A “premium table”, however, will run you $800 for the ten-seat table.

Congressman Issa will also be the keynote speaker at the annual Franklin County Republican Party Eisenhower Day Dinner. The dinner will be held on Oct. 30th at the Green Grove Gardens Events Center in Greencastle. Dinner tickets will be $50 while a table of eight will cost $400. There will also be a pre-dinner reception with Rep. Issa and those proceeds will go towards the charity group “Homes for Our Troops”.

Congressman Darrell Issa represents California’s 49th Congressional District and is Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. Rep. Issa has been a notable thorn in the side of the Obama Administration, taking the lead in investigations into “Fast and Furious” operation and the furor surrounding the IRS earlier this summer. As a result, he is considered a hero by the right and a scourge by the left.

Above all else, though, Issa is a highly effective fundraiser and one of, if not the, wealthiest members of Congress with an estimated net worth of $355 million. Therefore, Issa is a big get for these local party leaders.

When a member of leadership travels to Pa., usually it’s at least in part thanks to a request from a local member of Congress. In this case, Rep. Scott Perry (R-York) and Rep. Bill Shuster, who represents Franklin.

In a press release, Franklin County Chairman Dwight Weldman praised Rep. Shuster (R-Blair) as the one responsible for putting the event together.

“Congressman Bill Shuster was instrumental in landing Darrell Issa as guest speaker for this year’s dinner,” the release stated. “Congressman Shuster continues to be very supportive of our efforts to build the party in Franklin County, and was very responsive to our requests for assistance.”

Shuster is currently facing a primary challenger in Art Halverson. The ability to bring in heavy-hitters like Rep. Issa to aid the county party gives him the chance to show off his political muscle.

  1. Dwight Wideman is a fool. He worships Bill Shuster because Shuster makes him feel important. And Wideman claims that Shuster is building the party in Franklin when the truth is that Wideman has been kicking everybody out who dares to question Shuster and the rest of the establishment RINOs. Both Shuster and Wideman need to go.

  2. How great for these Republican Parties to have Rep. Issa as their guest speaker. Rep. Issa is doing a great job for all Americans with his hearings regardless of their politics. If calendar permits, I may travel to hear him and congratulate him on his commitment to gain freedom and liberty from abuses of power-mongers. God Bless him!

  3. The Votes on Continuing Resolution Defunding Obamacare and the Debt Ceiling are coming up almost simultaneously. These are Key Votes, the Litmus Test. Let us see what Rep. Issa and Rep Shuster and the rest of them do. Perhaps I am only thinking wishfully but I think a bad vote on either one will encourage primary challenge in 2014. Shuster voted for 8 increases in Debt Ceiling.

  4. Shuster thinks bringing in Dirty Darrell the Felon shows his “muscle?” Lolol… He’d be better off holding Issa hostage and getting a chunk of his $430 million fortune for his campaign.

  5. Bill Shuster thinks he is really, really in trouble. It is doubtful that kind words from a county chair will move many votes. In fact, the chair, part of the Republican Establishment, may move votes the other way.

Will the Shuster Dynaster ruling and reigning since 1973 be able to fool the voters one more time. Will Lucy be able to do it again.

This is Bill Shuster v His Record…hard for him to claim to be limited government fiscally responsible legislator.
