James Announces Bid For PA Superior Court

Today, Ryan James, a criminal trial and appellate lawyer from Allegheny County, announced his candidacy for the State Superior Court in the Democratic primary.

He started his own law firm, James Law, LLC, while he was working early morning shifts at a home-improvement retailer earlier this decade and still leads them to this day.

“Every day I’m doing the work that most frequently comes before the Superior Court and makes up a majority of its busy docket,” James said in his announcement release. “I’m not a politician, I’m just a lawyer who’s familiar and interested with the court’s work and appreciates how the cases it decides have far-reaching effects on the lives of all Pennsylvanians, not just the people appearing before it.”

This is his first time seeking office and states that pursuing this position isn’t a “political stepping stone.”

“Pursuing this office isn’t just a political stepping stone for me, rather it’s my way to contribute on a larger scale to tackling the interesting and challenging legal issues that impact the lives of others,” he said.

James, 34, also boasted about different accolades in his announcement release, including being honored as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Rising Star, National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 criminal trial lawyer in Pennsylvania among other awards.

James becomes the second Democrat to join the field after Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Judge Dan McCaffery, brother of former state Supreme Court Justice Seamus McCaffery, announced his intentions for the office.

One term on the Pennsylvania Superior Court is 10 years.

  1. 34. Really? Would he even be rated qualified for a District Justice slot. He is a male unqualified guy with two first names. The Dems learned the hard way when they could not even get a woman from Allegheny County on Commonwealth in the Dem landslide of 17.

  2. Watcher:
What the fuck do you expect? This page is owned by Ceisler, whose exwife has ambitions to the Supreme Court, and run by Sy “the Sycophant” Snyder. Danny is a threat to them and the whole Rendell/Wolf Kabal. Everyone from here all the way west to Ohio border knows this.

  3. Beth Tarasi is also running for Superior Court, and had her social media pages up and running for a while. I don’t know what officially constitutes as an “announcement”, but she’s the best of the bunch thus far.

    1. A Zappala stooge and a perfect fit for Philly’s McCaffrey. The Godfather is putting the band back together!

  4. This guy graduated from law school in 2011. What a joke. Go back in the courtroom and gain some more experience before you think you can serve as a Judge on the Superior Court. Experience matters.

  5. This is twice out of twice you have mentioned Dan McCaffrey’s brother’s name as a parenthetical definition of him. I notice you don’t mention Sen. Casey’s father in every story about him, or Rep. Lamb’s grandfather, or Auditor General DiPasquale’s grandfather.

  6. Going to Cooley Law School should disqualify anyone from practicing law, let alone being a judge. Going to that joke of a school already shows he has poor judgement.
