Joe Sestak: If at First You Don’t Succeed . . .Spend More Money

Allentown, PA – After voting for the $787 billion stimulus (RC #70, 02/13/09) and saying it should have been $1 TRILLION; and after voting for a second $150 billion stimulus (RC #991, 12/16/09), Congressman Sestak still thinks Washington needs to spend more of Pennsylvania’s hard-earned dollars.

Yesterday, Congressman Sestak told the Christian Science Monitor that he supports President Obama’s latest “stimulus” spending plan, saying: “Why now?  We’re doing it for the polls, we should be doing it because it’s the right thing to do.”

“Congressman Sestak, when will the spending stop?” Toomey Communications Director Nachama Soloveichik said.  “Are $3.5 trillion in deficits not enough for you?  Do you want it to be $4 trillion – how about $5 trillion?

“With a 9.6% unemployment rate, it is clear that Congressman Sestak’s plan of spending more and more taxpayer dollars has been an abysmal failure.  Congressman Sestak has already voted for two failed stimulus bills and now, he wants a third.  In contrast, Pat Toomey is offering a job-creating platform that reduces the deficit, cuts taxes, and actually creates jobs.  No wonder Pennsylvanians are rallying to Pat Toomey’s vision of less government, more jobs.”
