Katz Announces Kathleen Kane Documentary

KaneThe Kathleen Kane saga has been filled with so many twists and turns that it could make a great movie.

That’s the thinking of Sam Katz and his History Making Productions anyway. They plan to make a documentary on the Attorney General titled The Kane Mutiny (a pun on the 1951 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel).

“The meteoric rise and excruciating drip-drip-drip fall of Kathleen Kane has riveted the world of Pennsylvania politics, and is unsurpassed nationally as a tale of one powerful woman in crisis after crisis, more than a few of them self-inflicted,” says HMP founder and Executive Producer Sam Katz. “The Kane Mutiny will present a contemporary and at times unfathomable tale of personal, legal and political intrigue that has unfolded since Ms. Kane was elected as the Attorney General in her 2012 landslide victory.”

“This is as much a story about an elected official who soared and quickly began to implode as it is about the media and an electorate which, without knowing much about her, gave her critical endorsements and an overwhelming electoral mandate,” Mr. Katz added. “Had we decided to produce a feature film based on this story and present it as fiction, audiences well may have viewed it as too far-out and outrageous to be credible. But as a film documenting an in-progress narrative and still to-be-determined outcome, The Kane Mutiny will fascinate and entertain audiences while providing an eyeopening lens into the current state of American politics.”

The doc will focus on Kane, her political rise, her rivalry with Frank Fina, and will continue through 2016 as her case is heard in court.

“History Making Productions plans to raise the funds to produce The Kane Mutiny, develop the story and the script, secure licenses to use the voluminous archival film that the television stations and print journalism throughout the state have created, conduct interviews with principals, experts and journalists and release the film by the mid-2017,” Katz concludes. “HMP will partner with veteran award-winning magazine journalist and political writer, Lisa DePaulo. Ms. DePaulo is a Scranton, Pennsylvania native, the same hometown as Attorney General Kane, and has been writing about national and regional politics for nearly 35 years.”

Katz is most well-known for his campaigns for Mayor of Philadelphia in 1999 and 2003. DePaulo is an accomplished journalist who got her big start as a writer for Philadelphia Magazine in the 1980’s and 1990’s.

  1. On 8/29/2013, I told Ted’s father I was going to support and work avidly solely for his son; my posture has only been strengthened in the interim.

  2. I know he’s just a mental patient, but did he just predict that Ted Cruz will be the R – nominee?

I know he has been wrong just about 100% of the time here, but I hope he is right about this!!!

If not Cruz – then Trump or Carson!! Make it happen, FOXtards!! Make it happen !!!!!

  3. @ d2:

Your latest pivot from truth [which you left unrefuted] was to take my quote out of context [““The more people get to know him, the more he functions as a political black-hole””] and then to take another jab @ Ted [“Well, no light, information or good ideas has escaped from Cruz no many how many facts and how much science he is given.”].

As I painstakingly explained, unlike other candidates, people gravitate to him and REMAIN in support of his candidacy, even as he continues to illuminate by basing rhetoric upon information and uniquely-brilliant ideas, no matter how diffuse the attacks become from all sides.

Indeed, commentators from the WaPo to Morning Joe are grudgingly admitting/predicting he’s going to be the nominee!

  4. DD – Is it true that Seth Williams is also represented by Levant – the attorney that already represents the con-man (Ali) and the corrupt prosecutor (Fina)?
If so – that would explain A LOT.

And it would also mean that he just hired his own lawyer’s wife too … and is paying her from taxpayer dollars.

It would be one thing if she were qualified to be Chief of Staff and General Counsel at the DA’s Office. It would still look bad, but at least she would be able to do the job. But this Kath Martin has very little prosecutorial experience and zero general counsel experience.

Something is NOT KOSHER at the DA’ s Office.

“The more people get to know him, the more he functions as a political black-hole”

Well, no light, information or good ideas has escaped from Cruz no many how many facts and how much science he is given.

  6. LOL … the mental patient thinks we actually read his nonsense.

Alls I know is that he has met Ted Cruz 3 times. THREE times !!! !!! !!!

  7. @ d2:

It is so tiresome to correct your errors and how you “evolve” … but I’ll try once again, for the benefit of the 3rd party reader:\

    *

–“Trump is precisely where he was, precisely three months ago.” [from me, now from you:] But, in the past 1 month, he’s moved up 5 points (recovered from some dips due to Carson gaining ground). That is a more relevant time period in an election this fluid. He’s maintained a huge lead, which I expect Cruz to get when Trump collapses.
My point, is that Cruz has not yet cut into Trump, and Trump picked up from Carson’s collapse.

This latest [revised] iteration of your “point” is also problematic because – clearly – Trump fell enough in Iowa [now, in 3/4 polls conducted during the past week] to have allowed Cruz to become #1.

–Cruz is reaching the point where he needs to give Trump a push off the cliff.

You obviously didn’t listen to his tape in thy NYT nor KellyAnne Conway [who was on FNC on Friday/Saturday and who was on CNN this-a.m. … and whom I met (with her Philly-hubby] @ the NYC $-raiser for Cruz, 3 months ago]; he will continue to bear-hug him, witness for example the “Maniac” tweet.

–But, don’t count on Rove for predictions. If he’s right, it’s mere coincidence.

The fact that he was so definitively dissing the entire “Establishment” field was extraordinary…and telling.

–The FACT is that Cruz appeals only to very right-wing tea-party extremists who are disconnected from reality. As voters start focusing in and seeing that he doesn’t pass simple fact checks, they will realize how unqualified he is for the job and Hillary will win.

The more people get to know him, the more he functions as a political black-hole; once they like him [and note that he’s #1 in favorabilities in Des Moines Register’ pole] the more they stay with his populism and brilliance.

–Give [sic] how Trump has damaged the GOP brand with minorities (and not-racists in the majority), I don’t think any GOP candidate can win the White House (especially give the RNC’s own election analysis).

Maybe you should stop trying to “think” [because it’s obviously both taxing and misleading] and start noticing [in the CNN scrolled-caption] that he has “Message, Money, Momentum.”

  9. Carson … Trump … Cruz … all cannon-fodder for Hillary. I just PRAY that the R nominee is one of those mental patients.

  10. @ d2:

    AGAIN, you are wrong.

    http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2016/president/us/2016_republican_presidential_nomination-3823.html

Trump is precisely where he was, precisely three months ago [~30.4%]; he has not gained anything appreciable from Carson.

Perhaps you are beginning to write as Trump talks, with internal-contradictions when one reads/listens and compares the end of a pronouncement with what was said/written [1]–on the prior decade, year, month, week, day, hour, and [2]–in the beginning of the same ‘graph [or, in your case, in the immediately-prior postings].

Cruz is cruzin’ for an absolute majority in Iowa [noting that Rove predicted he’ll win a plurality, 3 hours ago, on FNC], which would probably be so historic [against 13 competitors] that it would allow him to envision running-the-table.

At this point, I would argue that you’re neither entitled to your own opinions nor to your own facts, for the former so regularly contaminate the latter.

  11. Trump is up 5 points nationally in the past 30 days. That’s not “flat”. He’s at almost 30% (which is a big lead of about 13 points ahead of Cruz who is still in the teens).

But, Cruz has crossed over 10% in that time to be in the 16% to 17% range. Cruz is picking up some of Carson’s evangelical, and the loses from the other candidates like Bush, but Trump is getting the crazy foreign and economic policy votes from the right-wingers.

Cruz is maintaining his crazy talk to get those extreme votes when Trump collapses.

    Hillary still crushes Cruz.

  12. @ d2:

The more you engage in historical revisionism – even regarding your own writings – the more flawed your postings become.

“Trump has picked up most of Carson’s support, so Cruz is getting some now.”

Your latest is still flawed; trump is flat, whereas cruz is getting virtually all of the evangelical support that had gone to carson.

keep trying…or admit [finally] how demented are your arguments

  13. rsklaroff

Actually, I’ve been writing that he was positioning himself to draw from both Trump and Carson, when they imploded. Carson has already imploded, so Trump is left.

Trump has picked up most of Carson’s support, so Cruz is getting some now, and the rest second hand from Trump later.

Then, he’ll get crushed in the general by Hillary (who will have more than 300 electoral votes).

  14. And when all the mental patients unite, LOOK OUT !! Hillary will smoke his white-ass. Get ready for “President Hillary Clinton” … It’s coming!!

  15. @ d2:

I don’t recall your prediction but, if you wrote it, you were in-error; he’s drawing from Carson, not Trump [yet].

  16. rsklaroff-

    LOL. You are so funny.

You post this like it’s a rebuttal. I’ve stated numerous times that I expect Cruz to cash in on Trump’s implosion.

But, Cruz is still stupid and ignorant. The GOP is in a race gl to the bottom for a candidate out of touch with reality. It’s Peter’s Principle dominating the GOP race: you rise to your level of incompetence.

So, bragging about how well Cruz is doing in the GOP race is like bragging about who is the most popular inmate at a mental asylum.

  17. @d2:

“d2 would want to ask Rachel Maddow to be videoed @ his ‘puter, for her ability to spin tales instead of capturing truth is legend [channeling his PoliticsPa postings]; she routinely skirts key-facts while wandering among topics.”

  18. Why not a movie called “The Cesspool”, all about the corruption and incompetence of Family Division, Allegheny County?

  19. rsklaroff-

    Are you really that stupid?

brilliant constitutional knowledge? He has ZERO clue about the 2nd Amendment, and is just a lackey for the gun lobby. He wants to insert his own religious values into the White House and government, so he doesn’t understand separation of church and state.

The melted snow caps on mountains around the world, leading to droughts, is “doctored” data? The NASA heat reading are “doctored”? This is probably why you are not considered a good “doctor”.

He’s against gay marriage because he is bigot.

There has been no “illegal sale of body parts”. He wants to shut down Planned Parenthood because he’s an anti-abortionist and religious zealot who doesn’t care about women’s health and all the other non-abortion services that Planned Parenthood provides. He’s got no plan to replace Obamacare, and mostly opposes it because it’s linked to Obama.

The Iran deal isn’t remotely “unconstitutional”, again reaffirming Cruz’s lack of understanding of how the world works.

Gold standard.. Fiscal discipline? How about economic collapse. Economists have abandoned this model years ago and it is completely useless and unworkable in modern times. The gold standard is often blamed for prolonging the Great Depression, as under the gold standard, central banks could not expand credit at a fast enough rate to offset deflationary forces. The consensus view is that the gold standard contributed to the severity and length of the Great Depression.

He’s rising in the polls because Carson is collapsing. He may well wind up being the GOP nominee, but he’ll never beat Hillary.

  20. @ Unsanctioned R:

Thanx for noting the embedded-pun; perhaps she would benefit from wardrobe “malfunction” instead of emulating Hillary.

  21. Lifetime network would love this story of “a woman scorned.”

Sklaroff, saying Maddow “skirts key-facts,” is sexist and a trigger for libs. You should know better.

  22. @ d2:

In Cruz’s case, “populist” means brilliant constitutional knowledge.

He’s a science and climate change denier, recognizing doctored-data. Qualifier.

He’s advocating abolishing the IRS, minimizing governmental growth and maximizing responsibility. Qualifier.

He’s against gay marriage as rewritten by the SCOTUS. Qualifier.

He wants to shut down Planned Parenthood and Obamacare, the former due to illegal sale of body-parts and the latter due to its “origination” as a tax-bill in the Senate [inter alia]. Qualifier.

He opposes the disastrous and unconstitutional Iran nuclear deal, as documented in my 15 op-eds [published since May]. Qualifier.

He likes a gold standard economic model to undermine presidential fiat and to maximize governmental fiscal-discipline. Qualifier.

Note how he’s rising in the polls, and revel in his performance next Tuesday….

  23. rsklaroff-

In Cruz’s case, “populist” means ignorant know-nothing.

He’s a science and climate change denier. Disqualifier.

He’s advocating abolishing the IRS. Disqualifier.

    He’s against gay marriage. Disqualifier.

He wants to shut down Planned Parenthood and Obamacare. Disqualifier.

He opposes the Iran nuclear deal. Disqualifier.

He likes a gold standard economic model. Disqualifier.

  24. @ d2

Rather than basing your baseless opinions upon superficiality, listen to Cruz; he is a populist who will draw from all those who despise the D.C. Cartel.

  25. rsklaroff-

The CNN debate will be a fun opportunity to watch the candidates destroy the Republican brand. Pretty much everyone is going to go after Trump on his comments about banning Muslims (and it’s certainly going to be a topic in the questions). You know Trump went too far when Dick Cheney (who didn’t care which Muslims were tortured) asks you to walk it back.

Cruz has been positioning himself to take Trump’s and Carson’s voters, when those two collapse. Trump’s Klan support has improved with his recent comments, but he’s looking more un-electable every day as more moderate voters are turned off. Will Cruz go for blood to take Trump out, or just let the others attack and savor the mutual destruction?

Someone at work floated the theory that Trump started this whole thing as a self-promotion/joke, and now has been saying every crazy-ass thing he can think of to get out of it (but the idiots keep lapping it up and increasing his poll numbers).

But, Cruz is right-wing-nut himself and isn’t going to sit in the Oval Office unless Hillary invites him over for tea. Cruz’s support for the debunked economic idea of going back to the gold-standard disqualified him from being in charge of any fiscal responsibility beyond his own checkbook.

Fortunately, if Cruz is the nominee, he is far to extreme to appeal to moderates and will drive out the minorities in droves to vote against him.

BTW, A friend told me of the [$1000/per] meeting that was memorialized in the NYT this-a.m.; the narrative [detailing yesterday’s luncheon-event] appears to have been accurately captured [and the audio appears confirmatory]:

Ted Cruz Questions Donald Trump’s ‘Judgment’ to Be President

    http://www.nytimes.com/politics/first-draft/2015/12/10/ted-cruz-questions-donald-trumps-judgment-to-be-president/?ref=politics

The 12/15 debate should be great-fun, assuming Trump doesn’t skip it because Zucker didn’t donate $5M to vets.

I would be honored to be portrayed by Steven Vincent “Steve” Buscemi, whose work is extraordinary.

  28. Who gets to play “me”, sitting at my computer blogging on PoliticsPA? LOL 🙂 The guys from Big Bang Theory are probably too busy. 🙁

They can use the Golem special effect from Lord of the Rings for rsklaroff. He can say “my precious” to a piece of gum that Ted Cruz threw away.

Or go low tech and use actor Steve Buscemi.

  29. And not that Eakin is about to be suspended by the CJD, the “based-on-a-true-story” plot has yet another turn! Can Katz make this a screwball comedy? I nominate Pee Wee Herman for the role of Frank Fina…

  30. Rise and … fall? What fall? It has been nothing but a glorious rise for the Most Wonderful Attorney General in history — Kathleen Kane. She is as pure as the wind-driven snow and has never made a mistake during her earthly life.

  31. Who will they get to play the HArrisburg Deep Throat who fed Angie/McCoy all their one-sided stories?
